I can’t see many shops letting you in without a face covering if that’s the law.

Anyway the police have said they won't enforce it in shops which is at least good news for common sense.

Nearly all petrol stations have an exterior hatch for night time service. So just use that to pay.
Stop trying to get off paying for your fuel on a technicality you cheap bd.
Petrol stations around these parts won’t authorise the pumps until they can see you’re wearing a mask. Stop trying to get off paying for your fuel on a technicality you cheap bd.

If shops are such dirty, Covid-19 filled places that you need to wear a mask to walk through the door, why would anyone feel the need to go in one?
Madness. Close down these festering coronavirus breeding grounds immediately.
That’s not the point of wearing a mask. Can’t believe we’re 4 months into this st and still people are this ignorant. Madness. Close down these festering coronavirus breeding grounds immediately.

Run out of masks. How do you get in to the shop to buy more. Don’t say online either as my dad asked me this exact question because he doesn’t even have a mobile that has internet. That’s just not an option for him. Now in his case I will obviously be supplying him with masks.
But what about those poor unfortunate souls amongst us who have nobody to fall back on.
Someone sent me this the other day at work. It seems to sum up the massive U Turn on face mask policy quite aptly.
I would point out that some local health authorities send out birth control advice after the first child. It seems eminently reasonable, and possibly helpful, to me. I can see that some of the posters on here would think, 'where were they when I needed them'. But what about those poor unfortunate souls amongst us who have nobody to fall back on.

I expect it's been mentioned many times, but it seems to have been missed by many posters; it's face coverings. It's not to stop the mask wearing becoming infected, but to protect others.
It's simple enough. There is some evidence to suggest that it will lower the spread, but, of course, if too many people think it beneath their dignity to take that little step, then it is all a wast of time. And, no doubt, a waste of a life or two.

What some on here don't seem to have taken into account, is that for some people making the wearing of masks in shops compulsory, may actually encourage some people to start using shops again.
Very valid point.Reading some of the posts in this thread you'd think that people were being asked to saw their leg off in order to be allowed into a shop.
You're just being asked to wear a face covering - you put it on, go in the shop, come back out and take it off.
It's quite easy and painless as far as I can see.
If it stops you wandering round Tesco accidentally infecting 85yo grannies with a virus you didn't know you were carrying, great. If you aren't carrying the virus and weren't going to pass it to anyone anyway, there's no harm done in there?

I don't know anyone who will now suddenly go shopping. I know a few who are put off. I know several who are ambivalent. But IME those who wanted to wear masks were already doing so and going shopping. Those who were too afraid to go out remain too afraid to go out IME.

The votes were spread across if it would affect their attendance negatively, positively or not at all. A surprising amount voted that it would stop them going to shops. I bet the same people that voted they wouldn't be going are the same ones that are active in all the threads constantly predicting the demise of the high street. Basically the ones that didn't go anyway.
I don't believe that many shoppers will stop going to the shops once masks are compulsory. I also think it will make more people confident enough to visit shops.
PH threads always have a more negative and rebellious outlook than I think is actually true of real life.

The orange supermarket does not expect colleagues to remind customers to wear a mask. Customers without masks won't be provided with one if they don't have one, but won't be refused entry either.
And a few days after they get hammered on social media they’ll change their approach. They should be requiring masks to be worn or refusing entry politely. I’m in France at the moment- 2 weeks ago it was 50/50, but last weekend I didn’t see anyone in the supermarket without a mask.
The police may not enforce it, but every single other person will just think you’re a selfish if you’re not wearing one. No one will be looking at you as some well informed civil libertarian.

Sometimes a socialist country really shines through, i’m so proud to be living here and see how they support each other, since yesterdays order ive not seen anyone not adhering to it The police may not enforce it, but every single other person will just think you’re a selfish if you’re not wearing one. I can't find the thread, but there is a thread with a poll on it on here about masks and shop attendance. It had around 1000 votes last time I seen it.

Please don’t tell me they’re comfortable to wear because they’re just not, at least not for me. I’ve always preferred shops but I’ll be shopping online as much as possible.
