if true, then the Director of Teaching & Learning needs sacking.

teachers should never disagree in front of kids. ever. EVER!!!
They didn't disagree in front of me. I was just told by my form tutor that the Director of Teaching and Learning has had a word with the teacher who confiscated my phone because according to the the school's oral policy (nothing on paper) she should have returned my phone to me at the end of the day even if she confiscated it last lesson.

While you come across as a very decent chap I don't think I've seen you mention you saying sorry for using your phone and may you please have it back - possibly what the teacher's after?
I got yellow carded for using the phone (sent to the Head of Maths) and after the lesson I did go back to her, apologised and asked if I could have it back to which she replied that I couldn't.

This takes me back somewhat! I can't recall the details in all honesty but there was no question over whether I was in the wrong over the use of a mobile phone, just the teacher's way of dealing with it.

She was an odd teacher too looking back, claiming she may come across as treating me harshly as I was of a similar ethnicity to her and she wanted me to do well. If that got out, she'd probably be out the door in this day and age.

I seem to remember the parents being unimpressed at the time as they were concerned from any lack of contact from me. This was primarily because I commuted on a Sinclair C5 thus everyone was of the belief, and justifiably so, that I would be crushed in one way or another.
