It's always there Especially on bank holiday weekends to catch people on their way to Cleethorpes for the day. P1sses me off no end - my mum lives less than 10 miles from their favourite haunt on an estate road where ar$eholes do nearer to 60 in a 30, and what happens? Absolutely bugger all. Why would it though, when the low hanging fruit is making its way safely along the M180?

Safety van my ar$e!

I saw the van on the opposite side and thought, obviously wrongly, that I'd eased off enough.

Probably too late - they can get you at 1000M, and easing off is no good. It's an instantaneous thing, so, do as the BMW driver did and stand on the brakes.

Superflid said:
Just before it happened,a BMW went past me at around 100mph, saw the van and stood on his brakes. He then went on his merry way at 100mph again......

He may well have got done too - you'll never know.
A very similar thing happened to me the other day too - the BMW had it's front fogs & (Xenon) headlights on. All very dazzling. I've since read that sometimes the lights can cause the laser problems focusing in the front of the car, and I wonder if the photo would work against the lights?

You know that run of road Streetcop?

That's up near where I grew up - don't get back there much but it has the reputation now for being a very dodgy road to speed on (even though it's ideal for it from the Doncaster end out to the Trent bridge).

Shame - at least when I passed my test you could still hoon along there. :-(

Hi Bobbins.
The highwayman was on the opposite carriageway and got me out the back of his van after I'd gone past.
I must have been too busy watching the road ahead. Foolish thing to do.

That's 10%+2.

So what happened to guidelines?

Bunch of prats.

That is the guideline - 10% +2 is the speed the do you at not the fastest you can do without being done

Plus, of course, your speedo over-reads by between 2.5MPH & 10%, so it would have been showing between 81.5MPH & almost 87MPH

That is indeed quite p1ss poor. Write to the Chief Constable to express your disquiet. It'll give the bag carrier a letter to write.

I think Sean is right...especially for 79 bloody miles per hour on a motorway and a van/camera at that.

If a patrol car was behind you and it had stopped you and you'd failed some serious test at the roadside, I could understand it, but the circumstances you describe are a bit OTT.

Wow

I got a 54 in a 40 and have heard nothing after a few letters in which I request the chief constable to send round a officer to interview me. If you decide to fight this there is (IMO) a good chance that the right to silence will be upheld by then and the scamera partnerships can go emselves!!!

Oh - I hope you heard that Mr Steve Callaghan.

Sorry to tell you mate, but I'd have done you for 54 in a 40...My personal mark for that speed limit is 52...That and above gets ticketed...and I for one think that is fair...None of this 46mph...

Hi Street
How was your day mate?
Your personal mark works out at 1.25X plus 2mph.
Do you apply that calc to all posted limits?
If so, then your limit at 70mph would be 89.5mph.
Thats very reasonable.

HI blademan..
Yep had a good day thanks...up a bit early though..

As for your question...yep..I pretty much apply the rule throughout...unless the driver looks especially knoblike and then it's down to the attitude test/previous convictions policy I have.

why should previous count? what it it was ages ago and they hadn't got a new license issued? aren't Police supposed to judge things on merit rather that what has gone before?

Only asking.

Not really talking about previous driving convictions (unless the driver has Drink Driving or 6-9 points)..

I'm talking about previous criminal convictions; ie: burglary, theft, assault etc

A driver committing an offence is more likely to be viewed more leniently than one with a criminal history..especially if it's in the last dozen or so years..IMHO

Don't throw your teddies out...Stroppy!

I'm not talking about the odd offence..I'm talking about 'criminals'...Criminals dont have one offence..they have several and often several several..for a variety of things...

As for corrupt nonsense..It's not in the slightest..I have the choice at the roadside whether to verbal warn or to prosecute..I have that choice..me...What reasoning I come up with to make that choice is up to me. I would obviously not document that on any official form and my thought pattern could never be intercepted..but it's not nonsense but fact....
I would also suggest that the majority of other Bib all employ the same tactics (along with the attitude test)...Apart from being slightly naive by getting stroppy about it, don't you think it's also a good idea. If I stop a career burglar that is out of prison yet again and driving, committing some offence...wouldn't you rather I dealt with him rather than verbally warn him..Or is that too black and white..should everyone be dealt with the same...

If everyone should be dealt with the same..then I should either verbally warn everybody...or prosecute everybody..one or the other...If I'm to use my discretion, and chose on each and every occasion (which I do), I make the choice on the merit of the motorist I'm dealing with...

79 mph .AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHH very sorry for you mate!

I just dont get it , it's sooo frustrating!
The thing that makes me very angry is the fact that this is going on nationwide every minute of every day.
Safe motorists being prosecuteed for driving safely at safe speeds. I'm getting madder by the day!
This only goes to confirm the camera partnerships do not exercise any common sense or even possess any!
