So things don't get followed up, just because the CPS won't run with it.

So the CPS are in fact responsible for law enforcement in this country, correct?

The fact you got two BiB round is something...

Without proof..there is nothing much the BiB could have done about the caller on that occasion.

I mean, if someone is going to shoot someone over something so trivial, then a visit from the local police isn't going to dissuade them.

Come on Gary, why didn't they remove his shotgun and revoke his certificate......unless the gun was illegally held, which would lead to even more trouble.

A lady cop at our council meeting once said that folks didn't want an officer to call followiing a burglary, "They just want a crime number for the insurance"

When I remonstrated with her, the chairman tried to shut me up.

I would have thought 15 or so people listening to a hysterical man on speakerphone threatening to kill two people would suffice as proof?

Makes me laugh... I get locked up for using the F word and fined £80 under section 5 yet this nutter doesnt even get a poke with a blunt baton...

I sympathise with you and yet feel angry at the shite state of affairs we live with...

In fact the more I think about this it gets me annoyed. So a man presumably attempting to carry out insurance fraud (can't think why else he'd want the undamaged side painted without paying) threatens to kill someone over the phone, and there are a number of witnesses.

Presumably the guy has a shotgun, either illegally or legally held, and the garage will have his name, address and telephone number, car reg etc.

Now I can appreciate this sort of thing will not be classed as "immediate" as I'm sure lots of nasty things are said over the telephone each day.

However, surely this kind of thing should trigger a visit - especially if he holds a shotgun licence - and the guy should have it explained to him that threatening to kill someone is NOT on, and anything further to this will be investigated fully .. written warning etc .. oh and why were you trying to have your car painted sir?

So instead it (presumably) gets ignored with the effect of three things:
1. People assume the police don't care (especially when they can muster up lots of people for ANPR/speed checks IRRESPECTIVE of the fact that it's a totally different time and place)
2. A guy who may or may not own a shotgun gets no comeback for threatening to kill someone
3. The guy may actually be a nutcase who will go out and shoot someone just because they don't go along with what he asks

3 is far fetched? It wasn't for Thomas Hamilton was it ..

The problem is two fold. Firstly most people don't think speeding is a major criminal activity (discuss) but then see the police throwing alot of resources at it whilst (secondly) at the same time been victims of crime and hearing the police say they don't have the resources.

I wont abuse you. I have too much respect for the honest and good cops out there.. I couldnt do it..

At the end of the day if my sister/friend/girlfriend gets raped who am I going to call? The ones who I hate and call wnakers.. Im not hypocrit..

But what was annoying, believe it or not, he abused me I retaliated and I got done..

He was an arrogant insignificant tw@t and i am certain i wasnt the first or will i be the last to tell him so..

Anyway... I digress...

Someone should have nicked the hysterical threatening chimp on the phone...
