I'd have to say I agree that puttin gout the ciggie wasn't disrespectful - I reckon I'd do the same thng meself if stopped by BiB if I had one light - its an almost automatic reaction if you're going to talk to someone in "Authority" (sad but true)

In Singapore I found it most refreshing to see people stub out their fags and then put them into a small tin for later disposal.

Oh, and there were none of those funny black blotches you see on the pavement caused by tossers spitting out their chewing gum.

Chewing gum is banned there. I just don't know how the Singaporean chavs survive. Perhaps wiv no gum they have died of boredom.

Streetcop!

People who smoke while driving should stub out their butts in the car's ash tray and TAKE THEIR LITTER HOME WITH THEM!!! No exceptions!

Absolutely. I remember being over there, fines for everything. Pavements were spotless though.

Still interested in Street's focus on the ciggy thing, and agree that this guy could have put the fag out in the car's ashtray if getting rid of it was meant to be respectful rather than the opposite. Doing it outside the car and throwing the stub away with Street watching makes it an obvious act of contempt. To work best contempt has got to have a plausible alternative interpretation. Same as folk responding when asked for the time in the street. Unless it's a sweet old gran they can feck off. If it's not a contempt and control thing like the cig, then it's to size up you and your watch.

People chucking fags out of cars or lobbing them on the ground really winds me up. After all, if you're happy carrying a lighter with you for when you want to spark up, surely carrying the used cigarette around until you can dispose of it shouldn't be too complicated?
