So cautions for theft or criminal damage would not come out even on enhanced dbs? Reason I ask is someone I know wants to be a school governor but wont as they have some cautions in there 18-21 years and doesnt want these disclosed to the school.
Well then they have opted out of a position of trust on the basis of their current deceptive behaviour. This is the greater issue rather than aged cautions, but unfortunately no matter how many times it's mentioned and discussed there are some people who are willfully blind to this point.
I would be surprised if a school even required a DBS for a governor (or at least nothing more than a basic) unless they are partaking in regulated activity (regular & unsupervised contact with children).
I would expect a basic DBS for governors to be looking for things like fraud rather than anything to do with protection of children.

Our school requires a DBS check for governors. I forget whether it is the standard or enhanced check. Given we shouldn't have unsupervised contact with children, I presume it's a fraud/position of responsibility thing.I would expect a basic DBS for governors to be looking for things like fraud rather than anything to do with protection of children.

He was 18 at the time not in mid 30's and is an accountant wouldnt have a problem trusting him just some silly petty stuff from when he was a lad. He doesnt want the school to see this as his kids go there. Not deceptive no one wants there teenage dirty laundry aired at their kids school. This is the greater issue rather than aged cautions, but unfortunately no matter how many times it's mentioned and discussed there are some people who are willfully blind to this point.
