Police Benevolent Association Card in the USA
Discussion
Going back a few years but this kind of thing certainly worked for my my dad, a fireman on Merseyside. He used to drive everywhere as if on the way to a job and was often stopped and never done. He got me off when a motorbike cop stopped me and issued a NIP for careless driving.
He learned pretty quickly that it didn't work if he ventured over the border into Cheshire though.

Happens here too. I worked as a civvy for a police for a bit. We had police id badges, not the same s the coppers but similar. One of the traffic guys told me if I got stopped to show that and unless you were being a utter prick or the guy who stopped was in a bad mood they would often let you off.
Never tested it though.

More like you'd get a ticket and a polite email from PSD. Never tested it though.
I was told about similar system in Zambia lots of years ago ,when I worked in Zimbabwe. You kept your licence in top pocket of shirt along with the equivalent of a £10 note. When stopped by police, and asked for licence- note fell on ground, and was claimed by officer, along with a wave off.

I keep a IDR50,000 next to my £5 international drivers licence, here in Indonesia.
No helmet, no ownership paper, no licence......all magically goes away for 50,000.

Yep, it's real. In LA they even have a website, encouraging subscription and membership;

I used to work in Southern California, quite a few of my colleagues were fully paid up members. Was with a chum in an E39 M5, circa 1999, that got off 130MPH+ on the highway by flashing his card, having the licence plate frame etc. Same car that I got busted for monkeying around in some months later.... "No license or ID with you ?...You're going to jail son !" etc..

You could never tell at the police when someone told you something if it was true or they were pulling your leg!

$25k for a 'licene plate holder' nudge nudge wink wink and a few leather bags!? Rotten and is symptomatic of the arrogance out there compared to our decent bobbies. Repulsive but money talks...https://chp11-99.org/
