I notice your garden is a little jaded!
I water sprinkler will soon revive it.
You know the kind? A few quid spent in B&Q and leave it to give your garden a good dousing especially the bit by the edge where the skum mark is?

Georgina,
You have nothing but sincere sympathy from me. I deal with this kind of stuff all day every day. Just keep the log running. I don't know enough to comment on the cctv issue so don't want to give wrong advice. Please try to understand when it appears BiB arn't doing anything (which it will seem like at times...)Our hands are tied. Trust me, we know exactly how we would deal with these people if allowed....

The sheer frustration and anger i suffer trying to 'deal' with such families is impossible to describe. Hope it works out, please keep us updated. I better not say any more about the slope this country is slipping down, it's not good for my blood pressure...

There was a little bit of media outrage when dear Kengesticulating Ken made announcement with the Met over taking digital photos in London. It seems he ist worried about children getting into frame of photo und then giving some scumbags a cheap thrill or something.... und he claimed that child in track suit can be a turn on as well. Ist silly - as you might as well forbid fresh air to all children on that basis - und it was slated on BBC R4 "You und Yours" at time as total PC madness..

But this ist perhaps part of official reservation for poor wedge girl? Do not know.

However, we have CCTV on our property - as do other relatives of mine. We have it on a loop system und we only retain the footage if needed (ie we record over it if no incident). Our local BiB told us we were in order so long as we had some signs warning that property was under covert CCTV surveillance - und our system ist also linked to burglar alarm system as well. Und our burglar alarm itslef sound like pack of big dogs too - it has a bit of a funny effect on the two daft labradors und the snooty cat though

Perhaps a burglar alarm sounding like pack of Doberman dogs und maybe a real dog may stop these horrible neighbours as well. You could also consider taking a discreet phot from safety of your own house mit a normal camera - und take this to police und not Boots for development since you have already told police about it. Ist just a few thoughts to help you...

These children need help - ist trouble brewing for both of them. Do they truant?

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Have you got any kind of speaking terms with the parents? Are they aware of their kids behaviour?

The mother came knocking at my door tonight, calling my elder daughter a white nigger and a sl@g.

I am logging everything, I know only to well how slow any legal process will be, my only hope is that they are in a council home and this is the second time they have been moved, and that the council will act given how many neighbours are being upset by their actions.

Buy a small tape recorder /dictaphone thing - und next time she knocks at door make sure ist recorded on dictaphone device. You can hold it - she may think it a walkman even They are fairly cheap und perhaps some neighbours could also record, You need to get together mit your neighbours und be united mit your plan of action here as well.

Sounds a very unpleasant person to me ..und neighbour from hell. Ist also going to be problem now children have finished schools for summer. Keep log und try to record tangibly whatever you can.

I feel for you and your family. Good luck and keep talking together with your other neighbours for mutual support. Hope you get them sorted out.

On public property, you can film whatever, whenever, and whomever you like. There are no laws to stop you.

If a child exposes him/herself to the camera, you're very unlikely to get in trouble, unless the footage appears to show some kind of co-ersion?

Just don't point the camera through their window, thats an invasion of privacy. And you need their permission to film from their private land, although not your own. You can film their land though, provided its visible from the street/road/etc.

Although the guard dog idea may be viewed as being "risky" by some, I think it is a good way to get the message accross.

I love dogs, but if I was a scroat, id prob be scared shitless by a bloody great dog a few feet from where I usually linger and sod about. Most of the time, even if you have a fence, the noise of the dog on its own might be enough to disperse the afforementioned scroats.

As to the legalities of having a guard dog, as far as I know the, Guard Dogs Act 1974 has the relevant provisions, (along with Dogs Act 1871,Animals Act 1971 ,and the DDA)

S1 GDA states: (1) A person shall not use or permit the use of a guard dog at any premises unless a person ('the handler') who is capable of controlling the dog is present on the premises and the dog is under the control of the handler at all times while it is secured so that it is not at liberty to go freely about the premises.

Ergo the owner/householder has to be present and the dog has to be secured so it doesnt have complete carte blanche- hence I said it has to be on a leash...

However S2(b) states that the owner doesnt have to have the mutt under his control at all times as long as it is properly restrained...hence the leash...

S1 also says (1) A person shall not use or permit the use of a guard dog at any premises unless a notice containing a warning that a guard dog is present is clearly exhibited at each entrance to the premises...hence discharging your liability to the scroats...

I know of people who have guard dogs for business and for their homes. Obviously if you live in a 2 up 2 down/terrace it wouldnt be practical, but if you live in a rural area/larger house with fencing, it could be a possibility...

Scroats dont like dogs, especially german shephards bearing down on them after 10 wife beaters on the town centre floor on a friday night...as im sure Gone could verify..

I don't know the media environment in the UK, but doing such videotaping/photographing would be an all-you-can-eat buffet here in the US. "Pedophile lurking in quiet suburban neighborhood caught exploiting disadvantaged youth--Experts estimate pervert had as many as 100 billion movies of neighborhood children". Not saying it wouldn't be legal, just not in favorable public opinion after being spun by a sensationalist press...

Such unfounded headlines would certainly draw a very lucrative lawsuit against the purveyor - I think perhaps you're exaggerating the point.

I'll say it again, you can film what you want, so long as its not invading privacy (ie private property). Public land is a free-for-all. Bollocks to them.
