Well done on the detective work and do let us know the outcome.

I guess the police won't be able to prove drink driving at this point but they could and should still be done for leaving the scene of an accident.

I've reported it to Police but I won't hold my breath

Is there any way I can find who the insurer is myself ?

It is insured

I've been told it's a JLR management car

About 20 years ago someone reverse T boned my parked car, completely crumpling both doors, not salvageable and I didn't claim on my insurance as I had only had my license for a couple of years. A witness very kindly jotted down the make and colour of the car along with the entire number plate apart from one or two digits. It was a blue Proton, and there was only 1 blue proton that matched. The police "couldn't do anything"...

Police might not, but your insurer will. They’ll write to the Land Rover’s insurer and tell them what you’re alleging and then see what the response is. Tell your insurer that their numberplate was left at the scene. Then it’s up to the other driver to decide what they want to do now that they’ve been caught. Be very difficult to deny it if their car is in for repair hehe

Just did a quick search and KR23AOY comes up as a possible. I'm sure there's more but the search takes ages.
^^^ We have a winner !

It seems that Tasman Blue was only available on the new Defender

The plate can only be a 23 for a new defender

And there is only one Land Rover on the Partial Plate site

It's a Blue Defender so I think that's a slam dunk
I was about to come on and say Tasman Blue is a Defender only colour to my knowledge.

Had a similar situation a couple of years ago where our V90 was hit whilst parked and a kind stranger left us a note of who did it. The witness got the plate wrong by 1 digit but via here we identified the car which was one of the local Fire Service V60 Volvos. Insurers contacted them and they denied it. End of claim.

Repair, no it will likely be stolen, I can almost hear it now.

"OMG it's not there, it's been stolen,.... when did I last see it, right before.. erm.. Must have been... Before it was stolen!"

My daughter's Fiat 500 was parked in the road at school run time (we live opposite a school) and was hit by one of the parents picking up their kids. We didn't see it but a witness put the details of the other car through our letter box. We told the Police and contacted the other car's insurer (our insurer was able to find the details). Our insurer sent an engineer out to inspect both cars and sure enough the other car had damage consistent with hitting our Fiat - dent in the right place, our paint on it and theirs on our Fiat. The driver, however, flat denied everything. Police did nothing, insurer did nothing. Without an admission or a witness (ours was anonymous) there was apparently nothing either could do.

That only tells you it is insured - I need to know who insures it

If you do the paid for search (not the free one) it will tell you that.

Does it give drivers details and address??? Hope not or crims could clone a car, check it then tell BiB correct owners details if pulled claiming to have borrowed it and showing a policy that lets them use other cars.

Your mothers home insurers will find out who the insurers are.

All cars that are registered under the JLR employee scheme will have a KM, KN, KO, KP, KR, KS, KT, KU, KV, KW, KX, KY prefix because Northmptonshire is where JLR Finance are based and they register the cars.

Yeah, much better to get into the whole PCoJ and committing a couple of crimes than risk losing your NCB.

I’d have expected them to do more than that for the money they’ve taken this year, ditto you could have done a lot more to force your insurance company to do more.

I am staggered at that site, absolutely perfect for scenarios like this!

No it does not. It gives details of the insurer. A third party can then contact that company with information of any incident they believe has happened which may involve the insurer's client.
