Chavs don't expect people to fight back, and are shocked when we do.
Yep, I have given them some grief in the past, attack is the best form of defence. Pushed one off his scooter a couple of years back for repeatedly splashing old ladies in a car park.

GO!Balmoral Green! GO! GO! GO!

Yup, you read the title right, some senior was just on the radio and uttered the classic line "We all know throwing a snowball at someone is assault" We do? Since when? Snowballing is snowballing, get over it.

I didn't realise they now ran a course in "Alienating the public at large" on the fast track courses. Idiots like this really do nothing for the public/police relationship

There is usually a problem with these broad generalisations.
This senior policeman has probably never heard of the legal concept of 'volens'. Without it every boxing match, or rugby match would be a series of 'asaults'.
I can allow you to assault me (throw a snowball, box, tackle etc) which negates the charge of assault.

Life's not even that simple, the police can form an independent view of a tackle (or snowball event) and press charges for ABH or whatever. So can the tackled or snowballed person, there are plenty of examples. A couple consent to intimacy yet criminal charges may follow if the expectations of one party are not met.

There is no assumption that anyone anywhere is libens, volens or potens without limit in situations like this.

I think my mistake was to respond to a generalisation, with another generalisation. So broadly speaking you can agree to minor assaults (according to the HoL this does not include having your scrotum nailed to a plank) aslong as they don't exceed a broadly acceptable limit.

We agree that you were mistaken, but did you really have to throw such graphic scrotal distress at us there are some careful owners out here...
