Speed measurement is carried out using two independent pairs of sub-surface piezo sensors.

These sensors are clearly visible in the road. If someone was minded to take, for example, direct action against one of these installations, would it not be a simple matter of disrupting the sensors in the road, perhaps by drilling through the buried wires? Surely if you break the connection between the camera and the sensor, the device is disabled. I'm surprised I've not heard of any instances where this has happened.

Not that I'm advocating criminal damage in any form, of course

Two drawbacks for this approach:
1. It's not very noticable as the camera will still be there looking normal
2. It therefore won't demonstrate drivers' opinions of cameras in general.

Far better then, if you had a mind to, would be to leave the wires in the road but address your attention to the camera. Purely thinking through the theoretical exercise, of course.

I can't disagree with that technically, just make sure your face/car is not in view of the camera in case it is set to take a pic when it detects such a fault.

Let us know how you get on!
