It will be away from the citys and mainly of road on dirt trails and mountain roads. So yes yes yes!!!

I read (here?) that in a few US states you can take their driving test and get issued a licence without being a resident, so you could theoretically take one while you are on holiday and bring it back as a souvenir. (Their test waiting lists and issue times are days rather than weeks)

Drtivers in India have excellent awareness of the extremes of their vehicles - their ability to drive less than two inches (approximately five millimetres for those of a metrical disposition) from the rear and sides of other cars demonstrates this! Collisions are fairly rare - you seldom see a dented car. On the minus side, they haven't yet mastered changing down before a corner (or after it, come to that) and rear lights are apparently prohibited on lorries at night! - Streaky
