..and I've always said that all this will give the Partnerships licence to increase the number of mobile cameras. OK, we can all have complete brain lapses, but normally, you should never be caught by a fixed camera. Mobile ones are a different kettle of fish, and are much more likely to be used in low risk (high profit) areas.

Scary stuff in a way... bitter and twisted and somehow seen as responsible for road safety? Exactly the wrong kind of person we want in that position!

Dave

Absolutely. But 'bitter and twisted' fits many middle-ranking and senior local-government employees, quite honestly. Anyone with any ambition or self-respect goes into industry, goes self-employed, or even goes into central government.

so true, i work in planning (private practice) they are so bitter so so twisted

Hey I go past the "Scamera" position every day. It's on the website as active but..... No GATSO or Truvelo or PEEK. Just a sign saying one is coming soon. He is blatently lying. Perhaps he'd like to explain to the family who lost a father on The Wetherby Road after the limit was dropped from NSL to 40 how well his policy is working????? The Mobile Scam signs and new layby for his Galaxy LTI's seem to unused as well.

Pah, mobiles.

They operate on profit. If they send out vans to quiet roads for a full day and catch 5 people it's probably not going to cover the operational costs.

They simply can't do it on the roads we already use to have a bit more fun, because they are already a bit quieter anyway, hence the higher possible speeds in the first place.

Passed my first ever mobile one the other day, was towing a car on a trailer I went to pickup with my brother, had a good 15-20 car queue behind us too, on the way there and back, a good 20mph under the speed limit just for laughs
Spied it a good half mile off (but I bet they saw us before I saw them!), oh it was such a dangerous road too possibility for danger if you were going to quick like, but nothing being observant beyond about half awake wouldn't solve!
