Newsnight tonight BRAKE & Monbiot v Captain Gatso..?

please PLEASE,someone tail Monbigot and clock him speeding.
Moonbat is a relative newcomer to driving. He only started when he moved from London to Wales, to be closer to nature. He's probably not got past second gear yet.
He needs to be placed in a field...
And hunted by hounds...
Now, lads, let's not squabble over the humane killer...
So, why did the BBC put Monbiot up against Claire?
Monbiot has no expertise in the field of road safety. Indeed, he has little driving experience. He is a self appointed environmentalist, journalist and writer.
BRAKE would have been the obvious choice, rather than Monbiot, and I'd risk a big bet that BRAKE would have relished the opportunity.
Could it be that the BBC worried that Claire would demolish the lightweights from BRAKE, so decided to pit her against Monbiot's sneering style of talking over opponents, in order to intimidate Claire?
I think so, but it backfired. Congratulations to Claire for standing her ground against this big headed, odious little meddler.

Don't they hide cameras in horse boxes there?
With a little bit of luck they'll do the job for us.

Who is Captain Gatso? Is he the guy who puts tyres over the cameras and sets fire to them?
He wouldn't tell you in so many words. It's a fact that things start to catch fire whenever he's around though. In the current economic climate I bet that those burnt out cameras don't get replaced.

All Monbiot did was to reinforce my belief that he is a complete and utter tool. He kept talking over Claire as well which was incredibly rude. Not to mention that he was completely and utterly wrong.
Where in Hell's name did he come from anyway.....Edited by Funk on Saturday 21st August 14:41
What's brought out his sudden and vociferous involvement.
He doesn't seem to have any particular qualification so why him to represent the camera partnerships?
He knows sod all and puts it over with the enthusiasm of someone who should be sporting a little black moustache.

We'd have to bug the BBC to find out why they put Monbigot up against Claire rather than someone Brake.Monbiot has no expertise in the field of road safety. Indeed, he has little driving experience. He is a self appointed environmentalist, journalist and writer.

Perhaps Brake bottled it and they had to send for the nearest "anti" rentagob

On the subject of qualifications, there was 2 of the 3 spokespersons there last night that have no qualifications to speak on road safety by speed enforcement matters and just to give you a clue one of the 2 was not Mr. Gianassi.
One of the spokespersons spoke reasonably and one repeated 10-year old soundbytes she doesn't understand in the first place. I don't think you shoudld be trumpeting a victory at all as the anti-camera voice was not well represented in that interview at all.
Nice try, must try harder, better still get someone else.
I did enjoy the assertion from Monbiot that you don't need police officers and instead speed cameras will save us from all driving ills, he came across badly and kept interrupting.
What annoyed me most was the totally biased report from the BBC, they explicitly mentioned the removal of speed cameras 11 months ago from Swindon but did not mention the statistics which showed casualties had not increased.

Have we got the Speedfinder General appearing on this thread?
Monbiot did his usual stance of interrupting and talking over anyone he sees as the opposition.
He really does not do his case or image any good with that approach.

Did somebody else say that earlier?

[Steady-on. GM wasn't representing the partnerships at all, he was asked to speak for those members of the public who support speed management by enforcement techniques as I understand it. Mr. Gianassi spoke for the law enforcement agencies.
