Do talivans use radar?

paulwakinshaw said:Interesting stuff, thanks Paul, but regarding your last two options I think that's a bit pessimistic. I use Valentine One and Bel accident hotspot detectors and both often give alerts from reflected / scattered laser when the trap is targeting vehicles ahead of me. it's not always true to say that when your laser warning goes off it's too late, but this is more likely if you're on an open road with no other traffic.
...so there are only two real solutions to avoiding trouble from Laser - dont speed or fit a jammer.Paul
How would I find out if a camera van was using laser or radar where they claim to have recorded my speed? Legally it should be a laser as they were inside the van, but how do I check that it wasn't radar?
The FAQ they kindly included with the NIP says they won't disclose evidence unless it goes to court.
Thanks.

Thanks Streetcop. I'm hoping it won't go to court (scary place!) unless I'm confident of something that will help dismiss the case. I'm trying to get my paws on the traffic regulation order for the road in question just to make sure it was lawful to slap a 40 limit on an otherwise beautiful example of a 70mph dual carraigeway. I'm told the regulation order is over 30 years old so there's hope that the original limit was not 40.
