Update - The debt collecting company are still pursuing the debt. Ive had 2 calls from them this morning despite informing them the invoice is in dispute and the company reported to trading standards.
The debt company have told me that the contract is now with them and I am to pay them. This seems all kind of wrong to me.
I took a drive to the company address on their website. It doesn't exist.
This is whats there:

It may not feel like it but that sounds like very good news. I should write to the debt company informing them that the invoice is disputed, then block their number. The debt company have told me that the contract is now with them and I am to pay them. This seems all kind of wrong to me.

I really believe that they will threaten everything and do nothing, there’s nothing much they could do without a Court order.
Well done op.

On a more serious note did you have a look around by the front door for a company registered office name plate?

The address on their website doesnt exist - as per the above photo. The address on their website differs from the address on their facebook page, which is a similar address but also not there. This also differs from the address registered on the FCA website which is a residential address and cattery.
None of it seems above board.
But I have spoken to the FCA and they say that they are a member and that the FCA doesnt protect against this type of debt collecting, so cant help me.
The company also say they are a member of the Credit Services Association.
I have read the Credit Services Association's code of practise and they seem to be breaking it...
Nice to see the debt collectors are GDPR compliant - not.
It appears this debt collectors is operating under multiple names and all of the reviews are bad of them ignoring codes of practice. Additionally it appears this is done on the side of their main practice under another name and they do medical billing primarily...(on the presumption I have the right "debt collectors").

I'm sure others have said this, but:a) Libel is not a crime. It is a civil liability. You are not prosecuted by the government, but are sued by the alleged victim
b) A defence to defamation (of which libel and slander are types - published and verbal) is truth. It is [i]possible[i/] to argue that your statement says that they have bad business practices. But you are actually just saying what is said about them elsewhere - repeating other published opinions is also a defence/non-liability to defamation, I believe.
These people are idiots, and just trying to scare you. Hold firm.

Well, I feel I can review them off their attitude, treatment of customers & how badly they have attempted to bully you throughout this. It infuriates me the number of other (less strong willed) customers they will have extorted money off. I have reviewed them accordingly.
