Is that enough for you Gone?

Hmm...maybe a bit of a sweeping statement, but I know what you mean.

What 8-pack's story does gives evidence of is:-
1) Not all coppers are "straight" - some clearly enjoy abusing their power.
2) If on the receiving end of one of these coppers, it IS worth making the complaint, as you can get a fair result.

(IMHO, it seems to me that the decent and good will tend to want to weed out those who bring the force's reputation down.)

Now...any more updates on Mr Edgars?

For the love of god, why was David Edgar arrested?

Surely if he's a free man he would have updated his website now saying "I was arrested for the dubious allegation of xxxxx .. " "I was charged with xxxx which is a travesty of justice".

He seems happy to document every other minute of this whole affair. So what's going on?

Clearly nobody knows, including Mr Edgar, and the whole thing is just for PR.

12 pages without any facts.

Is this a record?

But then, when you are arguing that's the trouble with facts; they slow you down.

But don't let me interrupt. Please continue to a natural conclusion.

First post on PH, and this is a huge thread, so please excuse me if any of this has already been covered at some point - I did try to read everything!

In the Edgar case, I simply can't fathom why on earth 2 policemen would turn up to drag a man away for hosting a website that, at worst can only be seen as 'inconvenient' to those who are involved with speed cameras.. I'm sure that, if there really was a need to stop this man from being 'active', his ISP could have been asked to suspend the site. ISP's are so worried these days about their content and liability, that they'll drop a site like a hot potato if any official interest is shown.

For what it's worth, I support what David is trying to do, but the problem is that sometimes people on a 'one-man' mission can distort the truth, almost sub-consciously sometimes. Is this a factor?

Er! well, No! my mistake, they settled "out of court", you will be aware of the reasons for this of course.

He is still left with permanent nerve damage in his hand from the cuffs. Has since had a kidney transplant which saved his life, not sure yet if he will ever be able to work again though.

RE: 8Pack's post,

Some bloody coppers eh...

I'd be back to court and sueing the individual coppers for every bloody penny. Totally innocent, not even done anything wrong and you get that treatment by them.

I know it's the public that pay out in the long run, but hey. Hopefully they'll stop hiring big headed sh1t for brain power freak cops who do that kinda cr4p in the first place.

Makes me really sick that people like that are police

Thank god the cops in this country don't have bloody guns!

Starting to believe Mr E's story more and more. If having an arguement/domestic gets you chemical burns and nerve damage from the cops, think what cutting the scameraship cash flow would get you

Yes, I can vouch for this chap, he is of a "low education", some would say: "a chav". Has no criminal record, offical or otherwise. He has worked manually with chemicals for years (hence the kidney damage). His employer forced them to work on short term contract 12 hrs per day,7 days a week. If anyone wanted a holiday, their "contract" was not renewed, so no-one took them. (just background so that no-one calls him a lazy good for nothing).

it's true that if you don't know him (he projects a macho image), you may think that he could be violent, he's NOT. But not having good language skills was a big part in the arguement with his son, he simply couldn't handle it. The police I believe are trained to realise this.

But the way he was treated by the local police was shameful, especially so given his illness. Totally unnecesarry in my view. A stern warning would have sufficed, especially so as the "incident" was by then over. He certainly didn't deserve the treatment he got.

Anyway! Back to the similar experiences of Mr Edgar...........
