Farmers insurance will pay up, farmer will possibly get some points if he has a licence and a fine. Farmer will be a fking legend in his local and make back in free beer what he pays out on his fine.
Car drivers won’t park where they parked again and others will think twice.
Not sure it is that simple. Not everyone reads the news.Car drivers won’t park where they parked again and others will think twice.
Hopefully the local highways dept will put double yellows down one side (or both sides at pinch points) and then it may mitigate future issues.

Totally agree. Does a narrow rural road really need double yellows?
No because it spoils the look, people should use some common sense and not park on both sides of the road.It should be obvious even to selfish dimwits that large agricultural vehicles need to use these roads.

Oh for gawd's sake.
Road tax or any kind of road fund duty was abolished by Winston Churchill in 1937, although it's reckoned the ring fencing of taxes to pay for roads was abandoned in 1925.
You've never paid a penny of road tax or road fund duty in your life, and nor has any other motorist. No money is ring fenced for roads, so you've never been able to contribute to the roads at any point in your life, aside possibly from toll roads (and the M6 Toll makes such a massive loss that the users of that road don't cover the upkeep either).
Funding for roads comes from general and local taxation, so basically the more tax you pay the more you pay for the roads. Whether the farmer in question pays more or less than the rest of us, I would neither know nor care.

I'm not sure it was an accident
I'm sure it wasn't. I wonder why, what with this going on since 1924 he hasn't just bought a few dozen cones to put out on the few busy days of the year when he just has to drive his tractor down the lane. It's almost like he's trying to prove a point

Failure to stop and report an accident? He may have told the police within 24 hours.

what is your issue here, pretty much everyone else in this thread can at least partially see the point of the farmer, apart from you. Was one of these your car?

are you allowed to do that? I doubt it.

I can see the frustration of the farmer but am 100% against how he took his vengeance. Utterly, utterly wrong and I hope there are some legal and financial ramifications heading his way for his actions, including some attention paid to his driving licence. It's not his private road to use as he wishes, he has to adhere to strict rules and regulations every time he uses the tarmac and that includes negotiating poorly placed obstacles.what is your issue here, pretty much everyone else in this thread can at least partially see the point of the farmer, apart from you. Having said that, all the badly parked cars deserve a ticket too, possibly even removing them at the owners' expense by the appropriate authority. But that's all. Not having massive chunks of metal ripped out of them or windows smashed or bodywork damaged. That's not how we do things here. That's anarchy and that sort of behaviour belongs in the Council Thread at the very least, if not France.

There wasn't any emergency yesterday believe me.

I can see the point of view of the farmer, the cars were parked appallingly. There was absolutely no need to damage them however unless there was a genuine emergency or unless he specifically wanted to.

No, there wasn't, but on the other hand what was he supposed to do? Sit there for X number of hours (incidentally blocking the road completely in both directions) until everyone decided they'd quite like to come back their cars now? There wasn't any emergency yesterday believe me.
Someone earlier said "phone the police". Two problems with that - phone signal in Borrowdale and the nearest police car could be in Keswick if you're lucky - more likely Whitehaven. Even if the police did turn up, what are they supposed to do? Make the cars magically disappear?
Sorry, zero sympathy.
