littlwoods / very, inaccurate product description. Advice?
Discussion
I think the biggest problem here is that you bought a PC from Littlewoods...
This is a company that overprices their products massively and gets away with it by allowing people to pay monthly for the item and thus thinking they are getting a great deal. IT it by no means a place to be buying a brand new computer from.
You would have been better off buying it cheaper from somewhere else and purchase with a credit card and meeting the monthly payments if you are paying monthly for it. If not, then why Littlewoods...?

It was part of an offer, i get 20% credit back on my account so effectively its £~550. and yes im paying this monthly. I know the price is inflated with Littlewoods, but it was the only option i was aware of that best suited my needs - Didnt think of the credit card payments.

Im am (now) aware, and you can buy monthly or annual subscriptions, BUT the advert does not state that.
The advert states 'Office 365 personal' That product is a subscription service so they haven't mis sold it as something else. If you googled the product before purchasing, you would see it was a yearly sub.
Hi all.
I agree that the '365' in 'office 365' should stand out to me, but it didnt. Also, it is possible to have a one month subscription to this, the website does not specify which one you are getting.
After a little research £60 is about the going rate for 12 months of office, but to me it also seemed a good price for the software outright as part of a promotional sale.
Littlewoods have come back with a resounding no. and have not budged or made any goodwill gesture. I will sell the code i have and continue to use office 2007.
Il take this as a lesson learnt and move on. I looked at over clockers a few months back to build a potential system, but never saw any details on buy now pay later.
Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Thats a bit weird that you know enough to invalid any warranty on the laptop with changing internal items, I hop you don't need to claim anything on it later... but think that the going rate for office is £60, yet you used 2007 and if you used office 2007, unless you bought it this year, why would you think that 2007 (at £80+ now) would be the same as 2015 version of Office?I agree that the '365' in 'office 365' should stand out to me, but it didnt. If you know anything about PCs and it seems you do, then you know Office (latest version) has always been in the hundreds of £££ to buy.
Its been like this for many years and so much so that if I saw it not for £60-70 I would be wondering what the catch is?
If I was the OP I wouldn't of google the office package and wondered why a office suite that's £300plus was being sold as 365 for £60-65. I did exactly that when I bought a laptop off them earlier this year however.....
I have what I feel is a bigger bone to pick with Very.
I purchased a laptop £1000 on the Buy now pay later 12 months package and since month 2 they have been applying interest of around £20.
I have rung and emailed then screen shots of the order were it says I will get the 12mth BNPL and they just say they can't see the image or open the attachment and the default response is at the time I was not eligible for that offer.
I have threatened to stop my payments and they don't seem to care.

I would be concerned paying £689 for a desktop that is this one:

so nearly £300 more than in ebuyer.

it was when I tried to buy Office365 and it said the cost was £6 (or whatever) per month (rather than a one-off lump sum which I was clearly not alone in expecting from reading this thread), that I realised it was an ongoing monthly subscription.
This is a significant difference to the days of paying once for ownership of the damn thing for eternity, and I am surprised nay concerned that people aren't spotting this before they commit .
Given that we're talking about buying a PC from a drip-pay catalogue usury merchant, I'm still not sure that would be much of a clue...This is a significant difference to the days of paying once for ownership of the damn thing for eternity, and I am surprised nay concerned that people aren't spotting this before they commit .
