I realy don`t care and thats a fact but thanks for your advice.......this job used to be one that attracted people who were proud to serve. I suppose it still does to some extent, but at what cost??

Hello Will,

I'm glad to find you're still with us as a Trafpol but I thought I'd read that you were getting somewhat disenchanted with roads policing and were planning to change jobs. Perhaps I misunderstood something.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I don't think this has anything to do with Plod looking after Plod, lets face it this is a Racial issue, it is not PC to sack a cop from an ethnic minority, particularly as they struggle to recruit people from Ethnic minority groups and because of his mother etc. This is Political Correctness at it's worst. The man should be in Prison never mind sacked from the BiB.

WTF is this country becoming?

I thought traffic Plod were well known for nicking other Plod for mtoring offences hence their "unpopularity" with other non traf police.

Ps Not a dig I like all the Plod on PH

There's always that worry.....It's like when you get stopped by a beat mobile, you think "Am I going to get done or not?"...Get stopped by a Trafpol and you think "What am I going to get done for...?"

Anyway....trafpol weren't always the creme de la creme...have a look at this early attempt at TPAC (tactical pursuit and containment)..the boxing in of the 'subject' car doesn't seem to have worked...

Because that respect is what separates you from the scum. Lose it and scum you become. IMHO of course.

In addition, we are what separates the likes of you from the sub human scum that would crush you in their need for what you've got.

Street, I disagree. I cannot respect an organisation that is failing in it's primary duty - that of PROTECTING the population.
(It is - violent crime is rising rapidly, burgularies are rising rapidly - both of these are the sort of things you are apparently "separating us from"!?!?!)

Further - if you look at the resources targeted at the different types of crime, vs the effect that crime has on society, it is blatent that the resources are skewed towards the "easy" convictions (to keep the stats looking good, I guess), and the "political" topics (to keep the politicians looking good). If it's not a hot political topic, and it's going to be difficult to prosecute, it gets ignored!

Policeman means "man of the people". It is about time that those in charge of the police (including the Home Office) started realising this.

Streetcop said:

It doesn't. POLICEMAN means a member of the police service or one holding the rank of constable

Sorry Street, but you obviously weren't taught your classics! Polis is the Greek for people/population (so you see where "Metropolis" comes from). Polis-man, is a "Man of the people".

Your Orwellian language not withstanding, Policeman SHOULD mean EXACTLY what I said! Unfortunately, too many people - including the police - have forgotten this!

That is just the problem. The people and Politicians see the Police as all encompassing. They have gone away from the core business of catching and prosecuting offenders and started to diverge into social service agendas where the other agencies cannot cope. Too much to do, with direction changing at a galloping speed leaves little resources to deal with the main and core functions!

Well said Gone....that I like.

gone.
You've summed up the situation perfectly.
