You are friends with a guy with serious mental problems who is clearly a danger to the general public? You almost sound proud of associating with a scumbag.
If he flattens Russians I'm buying the drinks when he turns up
Those Russians are the biggest scumbags in the Northern hemisphere if you want to talk about scumbags

I used an ex para to recover something belonging to me that the business owner didn’t quite grasp the etiquette of business or the legal system.

The para used the words "I helped him to the floor" when he kicked off.

Good for you OP

The "men" who avoid such situations are precisely why we have the problem

There is a tiny percentage of nutters about, most are just weak tts but because the vast majority of "men" avoid physical confrontation is why they continue
It’s the “men” who avoid poetry and hugging who are the real problem.

I'll have nothing said against poetry.

When not writing, I can still land a blow or three.

I’m trying to get my head around all the contradictions in this post. So you think nutters who are confrontational are weak. And you think men are weak because they want to avoid confrontation and getting stabbed?

If you start enough fights with random strangers, you’ll eventually come across the wrong nutter who has no limits on what he’ll do. Even violent criminals who are happy to be repeat offenders, are released from prison eventually.

Maybe if we had adequate mental health care for violent paranoid schizophreniacs, then we wouldn’t have this problem.

I also know of one guy who got himself into a fight, he put the victim into a choke hold and caused the victim to bang his head... the guy ended up going to prison for manslaughter. Was it worth it?

Perhaps because you didn't understand it

The reason regularly given is "what if the person being aggressive is a nutter" only a tiny proportion of them are nutters

The vast majority of the people being aggressive are weak and will back down when challenged

I never mentioned starting fights with strangers

If all men were actually men, the problem wouldn't exist because you could rely on all the other men to back you up

By hiding behind your mother's coat tails it encourages the aggressive idiots because they are rarely challenged

25yrs ago you were probably right, unfortunately 15yr old chavs regularly carry knives and stab people nowadays with impunity and no regard, then throw in people like my pal and its really not worth getting involved generally. A lot of folk would seemingly rather video incidents for Facebook as well, I think the days of community spirit and people stepping up if someone is getting attacked are over unfortunately.

PH is mostly populated my middle class semi professional types. IT seems right up there. The most dangerous thing they do is a trackday and their dodgiest friend is an accountant. Their last fight was at nursery school. You can see this when you read their disbelief or snobbery at stories of lunatic mates, law breaking (unless it's live streaming) or altercations with randoms. This is all fine but they need to accept not everyone lives in the same sort of bubble. All the Ford owners and Vauxhall owners will feel victimised. wink

I think the biggest flaw in your thinking is that it seems to come from the implicit assumption that people who are aggressive (but weak and will back down when challenged) are acting rationally.

What youre saying is if men were men (whatever that means) then men who are aggressive (is that manly?) wouldn’t be because they are weak and wouldnt want to be challenged. That means that you believe they would consider the presence of other men, potentially manly ones (how would the weak men who want to be aggressive identify the presence of manly men?), before deciding whether to be aggressive.

My feeling is that when people behave like this they are not acting rationally, for whatever reason (anger, stress, drugs, illness, all of above). They dont assess the situation and then decide to get all aggro. They lose control and do it.

Ergo manly men stationed on every corner would make no difference.
