Police Helicopter!!
Discussion
Well said Rotaree.
I'm occaisionally to be found in the back of survey aircraft doing night-time work over urban areas (usually the only voice other than ATC is the local Chopper Copper, even in London after City closes).
For that work, we use fixed wing so we're not hovering, shining searchlights or circling and we've still had people who think it's fun to try and illuminate us with something powerfull.
And it's a chuffing pain for us so far worse for lower level operators. Any one doing that sort of stuff should be dropped in the oggin and told their rescue relies on a SAR effort.

i suppose shining a big torch at the police chopper is almost small potatos compared to what they get up to in swansea.
there was a big fuss last year as the pikeys on town hill were firing big fireworks at the local plods chopper! due to the shape of the terrain, the chopper was hovering level with the pikeys, and thaty thought it would be a bit of fun!

It's quite clear. The police need to be equipped with Lynx AH7's! Or maybe a fleet of 'Airwolf's'

Matchless - you are indeed a total tit. Noisy mopeds ridden by 16 year old chavs annoy me, but I don't attempt to blind them and risk injury to them or others.
As a fellow pilot, albeit a PPL holder and not a professional pilot such as Rotaree, your actions are a disgrace, and yes, if caught you would be arrested, and if convicted quite probably sent to HMP.
Incidentally, the stories about helicopters enforcing speeding are bollox. The only evidence they will give of speed is a general one, based on the speed of the aircraft to support Dangerous Driving prosecutions.
Finally, the £1300 per hour is a bit misleading. Almost certainly one of the figures obtained by diving the annual cost of the air support unit by hours flown. The helicopter will not cost £1300 for every hour it is in the air.

but do the chavs do it from Midnight to around 03.00 Hours keeping you awake and unable to work the next Day? on Minimum wage thanks to the Poles?
Seriously, if you really think it's that much of a problem then talk with others from your community and lodge a group complaint. However, if it transpires that no-one else thinks it's a significant problem (while considering the alternatives) then perhaps you need to do something else....but please don’t try to blind or obstruct pilots or officers. I think we’ve all agreed that’s a rather silly thing to be doing.
