Hi WalterU. I've taken down my objection, I think I understand what you were getting at . Poss. I over-reacted but I worry about anything that can reduce the impact of the term "Nazi." if you check my name in the profile it's prob. fairly obvious why !

Re the question about penalties for no plate offences I usually deal with it by Fixed penalty ie £30 I did have one the other week at court (he had been given 2 x FPN's so I summonsed him) that was a £165 fine + 335 costs, also DVLA are considering revoking the plate

Basic springloaded flip-up is 20 quid. Solenoid version 40, and super-deluxe 60 quid for h'bar mounted switch. Not detectable unless directly observed.

Flipper rate = 0.2 seconds, solenoid may burn out if activated for longer than 10 seconds...

I have not got one, as I'd sooner rely on spotting trouble first. But I know of people who do have them, hence the prices.

The problem with dodgy plates and flips is that;-

a) get photo'd too many times, and they may set a video camera up.

b) some REALLY nasty people use them for serious crime, and genuinely nice people (like reader of PH) can get hurt.

Now if we could just persuade the Police to concentrate on catching BAD drivers, we'd be out of the sh** with this gatso nonsense.

Sadly I think it's going to be a long haul to change the law, and we are going to see more and more flips/dyslexic plates used by not only harmless car enthuisiasts, but hard bastards intent on evil.

Oh that reminds me, I have a question, but that is another post.
