Which, after all, is exactly what L17wsy is facing a court date for doing, is it not? It said L17 WSY, he wanted it to say "Lawsy", so he changed it to be more like what he wanted it to be.
No, the OP illegally altered his registration plate, that is not the same as personalising your vehicle legally.Jon1967x said:
You're not being bullied, it's more likely you are the bully.
Which bit of judgmental do you not understand calling cyclists "Lycra clad muppets"?
The sad thing is you can't see it and your defence is to claim you're the aggrieved.
Really?Which bit of judgmental do you not understand calling cyclists "Lycra clad muppets"?

The abusive way they were riding makes them muppets. Fact. They were wearing Lycra. Fact. No judgement needed.
The sad thing is all these people on the Internet trolling. Bullying from a keyboard. Nice!

Sorry, but from the post tha Mopar quoted on the previous page, that is pure hypocrisy. The abusive way they were riding makes them muppets. Fact. They were wearing Lycra. Fact. No judgement needed.

You have formed the opinion that their riding was that of a "muppet" or a "tit". I would suggest that was judging, not fact.
You then go on to say "it's lucky my Mrs was in the car or I would have stopped, wrapped the bike around your head and threw you both in the river" or words very similar to that.
What exactly is that if not keyboard warrior, "I'm well 'ard, me" trash talk?
If you're going to use hyperbole, then you can't really criticise others for doing so.

Should not say things in the heat of the moment
This is getting a bit off topic however and is covered elsewhere.

Mmmm you do have a point with "it's lucky my Mrs was in the car or I would have stopped, wrapped the bike around your head and threw you both in the river", I would never do that. Was only written to convey how annoyed I was and can see how inappropriate it looks. Have you never vented before?

I often vent! So no worries! Should not say things in the heat of the moment

Yes, off topic indeed. I also am undecided as far as cyclists are concerned, and indifferent with regards to private/personalised/vanity plates, so will leave it to those passionate about such things.

OP this is for you. It is illegal to alter these plates, you know it from the 3 times you have been pulled and fined for it. The wording of your post criticising the police office for doing his job has not garnered any sympathy for you. In addition you drive a 911, well known for being the car of choice for knobs. Not saying you are one but surely you can see why some on here have come to that conclusion?

Brilliant!Trolls!
I once had one. And may indeed have one again. Since I don't think you can change it I think I am stuck with it.
Didn't realise it offended anyone.
Back to topic why is it deemed unacceptable to have a car and a number plate that refers to it? I can see the opinion of those that have one to reflect their name to be vain, but surely this is not the same for car related plates?
People put M badges on their car and this seems ok.

I agree with you there, at least in part. I'm not a fan of personalised plates at all to be honest, but, I think if I was going to go down that route it would have to be a car-related one or perhaps something else, but definitely not one related to my name. It shouts 'look at me!' far too much (IMO of course).JagXJR said:

On that one I don't agree. I think sticking any badges on a car that weren't put there by the manufacturer is extremely naff.JagXJR said:

If not vanity, then why?. See also: M badges.Didn't realise it offended anyone.

....personalisation is taking something and changing it to be more what you would like it to be, doesn't matter if it is unique or not to start with.
Oh, I've done that.About three or four years ago my number plates had started to delaminate and look a bit shabby, so I bought a new pair and altered them slightly in the process.
So, W194 CUB became W 194 CUB, because I think it looks better (and it is easier to read and remember) without the W being squashed right next to the 194. This probably makes it illegal, but for the sake of a few millimeters does it really matter that much?
By the same token, I think the current age-related number plates would look better if, for example,
NV63 ABC were to be set out as NV 63 ABC.
Obviously there are quite a lot of number plates around where weird fonts have been used, or the characters and spacing have been seriously messed with, to the extent that the correct identification is not immediately clear, and that isn't acceptable, but I do think the regulations are getting unnecessarily detailed and fussy.
