I've just gone and bought a disposable camera and tucked it in the glove box!

You really can't trust anyone these days!

Which is really quite a sad state of affairs

Is it going to get worse or better? who knows....

When I first worked a police car with a video recorder that captured sound as well, I had my concerns....

However, it saves me many more times than it does me harm...

People are basically encouraged to LIE in order to absolve themselves of responsibility and obtain a compensation payout. This makes me sick.

My GF was rear ended (in her car ) at about 60mph - clear road, perfect visibility, by some numpties. Very apologetic at the time (she seriously could have died - span several times & ended up perched on a lamppost on the edge of a river in a very dazed state). Ex-policeman came along and sorted things out. Police drove by and didn't stop (despite her most likely having fractured a vertibrae). Photos were taken and it was reported to plod.

NOW they say it was her fault and are causing her (and me) loads of stress, worry and hassle as her car is scrap (new MGTF) and she needs to replace it. Because they are LYING about the incident she now has to lose her no-claims (important when you are 24yo and like nice cars) untill it's sorted.

She was waiting for traffic to clear so she could turn right FFS, when they drove into her. How is it her fault????? They were ok at the time, until they spoke to their insurance, and say it my HER fault!! Arrrggg.

How can that be, your GF was hit from behind, that is always the fault of the following car!

yep, I know.

They are concocting some lie about it all - despite the evidence (car damage, photos of the junction etc) saying otherwise. It just worries me/us that it will go to court and they will have the balls to perger themselves. Also we are worried that the spineless insurance company will cave in/go knock-for-knock.

I just wish some people would own up when they were in the wrong. I do - it really isnt that had to say sorry and hold you hands up!

It was 2 guys in a work van on a saturday afternoon. You can bet they lied to their boss about what happened who is now under the impression they couldnt have avoided the accident. I know where the company is and would happily go down and meet him (with photos), but can be guaranteed it would be reported as harassment or some other rubbish.

whilst that is the case 99% of the time you occasionally get cases whereby the driver behind alleges the car in front cut them up, and in effect "took away" their braking distance. ie, you were travelling along and slowing behind a line of stationary cars, driver pulls past you, cuts in front and hammers on the brakes. I have seen these go 50/50 and normally you have to look carefully towards the area of damage to assist, unless there are witnesses. If the damage is to the rear nearside of the car in front then it tends to suggest they pulled in at the last minute.

Its rare, but it happens.

Happen to my friend, travelling up the A1 to visit. Rear ended by a LGV who claimed my friend cut him up. In reality he had failed to see my friend as simply hit him as the traffic slowed up.

A video camera may seem a bit extreme but many modern camera phones have a vid cam facility and having this feature swayed me torwards my new one.
