Is it your Panamera that has the reg Nordschleife or something RDMcG ?

Bet that confused them.

The Polizei may not even know what country you're from.

The Panamera was run at Spa also, so I used the plate EAURUGE. Also, I chose the eagling for the province to be in Frenchsmile...
If I get a ticket, they deserve to get paid.

Just got a letter through from Germany.

Possible 200 euro fine and 1 month ban i have to send them my details for court?

Seems really harsh claims it was built up area with 70km/h limit i was doing 111km/h having just overtaken a line of trucks. I accept that was the speed limit but was middle of know where dead straight road. I'm not in a position to argue though obviously.

Is the ban just for Germany? I'm going back out in February will it be resolved as I obviously have to send my details back etc when would the ban start?

Any advice would be really helpful.

Ban is Germany only and no need to report to UK insurance either.

I got a letter back in Sept 2017 saying I’d been exceeding the limit.
Fine was around 80 euros from memory, pic of my car, me driving and number plate.
I couldn’t figure out how to pay it and wasn’t going to bank transfer without precise instructions in English.
I got one reminder around 6 weeks later and heard nothing since.

2 years since last communication not enough ?

Seems unlikely.

We have just done an 1800 mile trip to Switzerland, then onto Milan and then onto Paris, tried keeping to the speed limits but on exiting a very quite French village put my foot down a bit to early and got flashed by a camera hidden by a parked van.
So will wait for the fine to come through and then will just pay it so that I don’t have to worry next time we pop over the channel.
On the way to Milan we came down a fast bit of road into a village and as I rounded a corner there was a group of Italian police who signalled me to pull over and I thought damm here comes a fine, just told me to go a bit easier through the villages. Fair play to them

presuming you were driving a right hand car ? and not a hire car

If so request a full frontal photo of the driver , do not give any other details other than to say you are trying to identify the driver and can they please supply ?

Chances are they cant ... i received a very grainy photo which was impossible to tell who the driver was ?.......... that being the case job done , nothing else recieved , been back to Germany several times in the same car and past Traf pol ... nothing , that was 3 years ago

good luck

Does not matter, the debt accumulates in their internal systems and increases automatically until you happen to walk into an airport in the future.

They (and the Swiss) have very long memories.

Two years ago I was waiting for a reasonable long time at the Swiss / German border whilst they checked their computer. I assume to check for any outstanding fines.

Next thing you’ll be telling me to expect a visit from Interpol smile
Tell me how they know that’s me, from a passport which doesn’t have my address on it?!

I lived in Germany for many years, there is no way they have forgotten.

I received letters / tax bills when I was back on the UK even though I’d left 12-18 months earlier.

If you get stopped, they will have it on record and it’ll be a case of can we see your driving licence ...

Yep, if I’m driving, and get stopped, quite possibly.
Albeit not if I’ve moved address and updated my licence.
If I fly in to Germany, they won’t have driving convictions attached to my passport record as they cannot match the 2

My point being that they've stopped chasing MattS5 at his home address ,he'll be unlucky to get nabbed if driving in Germany again.

I got stopped entering Germany from Austria at Fussen on October 13th at about 7am, took my licence ,passport and V5 for a look,

nothing outstanding ,I was on my way in 5 minutes.

They wouldn't have been so friendly if they checked the car ,with a large split in the windscreen ,covered by an even larger sticker.

I have a different issue. I got a German speeding fine through and paid it by Bank Transfer following the instructions carefully. A couple of months later I got a repeat of the same fine and when I checked the transfer failed to go through. I tried again, triple checking the details, and once again it failed.
The letter states that if you have any issues, queries or you want to fight the penalty you must write back in German explaining things. I obviously can't do this.

So I want to pay, I'm happy to as I want to visit Germany again but I can't. has anybody else had problems getting the payments through?
