No Mask, No Entry, No Exceptions

I don’t want to start another pro/anti mask debate, there’s been a few of those.
I’ve passed a few mainly smaller shops and cafes with signage saying you cannot enter without a mask, no exceptions. Does this contravene disability laws?
When I see unusual or extreme signs in a business, I usually wonder what happened that resulted in the owner putting the sign up...I’ve passed a few mainly smaller shops and cafes with signage saying you cannot enter without a mask, no exceptions. Does this contravene disability laws?
If you were to speak to the owners, you may well find that the signage is not there to deter customers with genuine reasons why they cannot wear a mask, but rather as a prop to point at when a certain sort of person starts showing off. I would bet money that at no point in the last 15 months, have the words "ps off, and take your oxygen tank with you" been shouted by the proprietor of a British cafe.
Plus "no mask, no entry, no exceptions" saves a lot of ink and paper versus "no leopard print leggings, no oversized sunglasses, no 'I need to speak to the manager' haircuts, no bobbing your head around with your index finger extended as you attempt to argue a point, no clumsily-worded legal-sounding text you printed off a forum on Mumsnet that must apply because it was written by someone whose friend knows a paralegal, no referring to Magna Carta unless you can actually quote the clause you think supports your argument, no referring to laws that don't actually exist, no quoting bits of legislation that you forgot to check are this country's legislation."

Yep, the government's really done a number on the population with this one.
No doubt they're frantically trying to figure out how to convince people that voting Conservative will protect you from covid, and they can rule for a thousand years.
Too late.No doubt they're frantically trying to figure out how to convince people that voting Conservative will protect you from covid, and they can rule for a thousand years.
Mammy Sturgeon has already done that number in Scotland.
It’s amazing how appearing on TV every day and tweaking the regulations slightly makes the faithful think she personally saved them from dying of Covid.
All hail Saint Nicola.

Costco had this restriction for quite a while mask or face visor required
And it really isn't discimantory there very few people who can't genuinely wear one other then those who just don't want to the real reason for most people
Of course it is discriminatory to the people who genuinely are except: asthma, anxiety or whatever other reason which is none of your business And it really isn't discimantory there very few people who can't genuinely wear one other then those who just don't want to the real reason for most people

People that get panic attacks. It does happen I guess youDon’t believe it? I had a colleague who used to get sick before going into meetings with senior people due to irrational anxiety on his behalf but he couldn’t control it

I’m with Costco with this stance 100% , one or the other or don’t come in .Strangely enough one of my colleagues at work’s wife has asthma, she works full time in a care home and wears a mask during her shifts , and has done since the pandemic started.
Never stopped her working.
Now if you could just explain why folk with asthma can’t wear a mask for a visit to Costco ...
I don't see why wearing a mask which reduces transmission at points where we most likely to receive or transmit covid i.e. enclosed public spaces is seen as such an impediment.
Get over it. what reduction in quality of life are you impacted by?
Wearing a mask and cleaning my hands didn't stop me going on a city break this week, going out for meals and drinks or generally living life....

They’re part of the community, a community you chose to join by being in the same shop as them at the same time.
And you’re in a situation with them where it’s mandated to wear masks for their safety.
Regardless whether it actually is safer is irrelevant, it’s just polite. And if you can’t or won’t do polite then you have a bigger problem than just masks.
And therein lies the issue. This law is terrible one. In our 'community' it's not normal or polite to question someone's health status. If someone does so and doesn't get politeness back, that's understandable. And you’re in a situation with them where it’s mandated to wear masks for their safety.

Me. To look at, you'd think I wasn't wearing a mask because I'm a I did wear one up to Christmas but it got too much. Mask wearing and one other situation cause the anxiety, but the other situation only crops up a few times a year. This was something that happened over 30 years ago. I appreciate 'we' are a minority of the people not wearing masks, but society shouldn't have been moulded into being pathetic covid wardens. We don't lecture fat people, smokers, drinkers etc.CooperS said:

You clearly have no problems wearing a mask/muzzle, millions of others including me most certainly do. They’re uncomfortable, unhygienic and imo dehumanising.Get over it. what reduction in quality of life are you impacted by?

I take it you don't work in an environment that requires a mask for your own safety.....and I'm not talking about covid...or undertake any diy that involves dust or go snorkelling or have sleep apnea or any other daily task that may benefit you by wearing a face covering of some sort.I really doubt it's millions who have a genuine need, more likely a few thousand if that

I applaud the shop or pub who enforce mask wearing rather than relying on other customers having to challenge or remind those who have forgotten their mask or have decided that they don't have to comply.
Other customers who do challenge people who are not wearing a mask are often met with abuse or belligerent behaviour - as if they are the ones in the wrong.
I hear Primark have a good deal on brown shirts on at the moment.Other customers who do challenge people who are not wearing a mask are often met with abuse or belligerent behaviour - as if they are the ones in the wrong.

Masks in cars get me. Fair enough in a taxi, or if you are giving someone a lift, ok if it's not your car, but I've seen people in their own cars, on their own, wearing a mask. Would you not just run a Dettol wipe over the inside instead if you were that bothered ? I regularly see a chap go past our house in his convertible, with the roof down, wearing a mask. It's just odd.
I wore a mask to drive from one shop to another on the other side of town, because I couldn't be arsed taking it off, and it was a cold day. Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
