OP, please email me the Claim, defence, any directions given by the court, and any witness statements and I will give you some suggestions based on having been a professional shouty person since approx 1181.

Can you use a Mackenzie Friend in this situation?
Yes you can. I’ve been to County Courts several times so have some experience. I’d be very happy to attend with the op if that helps. I can’t help thinking she can find someone better qualified though. The OP should also take up BV's generous offer. Would be madness not to.
Had a gas boiler replaced last week.
British Gas quote 5 year warranty on a Worcester Bosch 18KW £3789
Independent one man band Glow Worm 18KW £2789
Local Small Firm approved Worcester fitters and recommended to me 10 year warranty Worcester Bosch 24kW £1705
Three other firms didn't turn up or couldn't be bothered to reply.
Took the small local firm, on time 4 hours later everything up and running. They also charge £62+vat for an annual service.
It pays to shop around.

I am in touch with the OP. No expense here, I am just having a shufty pro bono, but if the PH massive wanted to crowd fund a direct access barrister to attend the hearing I know someone suitable. I cannot go myself as I am mostly outside the UK these days and anyway do not do direct access.

Thank you to everyone for all the support.
Its heartwarming to see 31 pages of people doing what they can to help to a stranger on the internet.
Breadvan has been very generous in his to offer to look over the details which I have taken him up on.
At the moment I am feeling a bit embarrassed by the whole thing as I should have just paid the guy and moved on with my life last year. It would have saved a whole load of stress.
