Car damaged by garage during MOT

Quick update: car taken in last week, brand new courtesy car FOC. Bonnet cut back and re-sprayed with clear coat which looks as near as I can tell almost perfect- it’s fixed a lot of tiny marks and bird st damage too. All with no charge, so very happy with that.
They could have been really awkward but it was easy and painless in the end. Are we allowed to name places that do the decent thing? Will take them a case or two of beer and big box of biscuits!
Glad to hear they put it right and I personally think that's the right thing to do. They could have been really awkward but it was easy and painless in the end. Are we allowed to name places that do the decent thing? Will take them a case or two of beer and big box of biscuits!
It's nice they opt to wash cars, it's a courtesy (although one I'd rather not have either) but if they cause damage, they do need to put it right. I don't think you should be out of pocket when you didn't request it be washed and anyone should know there is a risk using a pressure washer on paint. I've known at least a couple of people blow paint off their car/wheels where the paintwork has been compromised.
Good idea to give them a gesture of appreciation in return too.

I agree, but they could easily have either denied it or shrugged it off and, if I’m honest there would be nothing I could do - not going to go all legal on their ass for something like this, especially as it’d be impossible for me to prove, so I think it’s pretty good service. Took round some beers and biscuits for them today for which they seemed surprised and appreciative.
It has made me think about tidying up a few other cosmetic aspects of the car, as having a lovely new looking panel highlights how weathered the rest looks!
Would be nice to retire if from daily use really, but not sure it’s special enough to keep for the weekend, but then I think they’ll never make stuff like this again and I look at the prices of older hot hatch stuff and think I should keep it!

Could you get away with a detailer doing some paint correction on the other panels to bring it up to a similar standard as new bit. Then stick a ceramic coat on to keep it good for a couple of yearsTook round some beers and biscuits for them today for which they seemed surprised and appreciative.

Probably, though the wheels are getting scruffy and there are a couple of other bits of minor damage. Not sure I’m up for a full restoration at the moment as it’s still my daily drive. Will have a proper look when I get the chance to give it a good clean. Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
