why shouldnt it pay?
i am sure you wouldn't like standing around taking abuse from teenagers without being able to do anything about it.
the only thing baout them being paid so much is that they might as well be converted in PCs so they can actually do somehting about being abused.
I am sure a systems analysts adds so much more to society than a PCSO
I don't know if I add any value to society but I know I can get fired if I'm crap at my job No big pension and no hiding behind unions too i am sure you wouldn't like standing around taking abuse from teenagers without being able to do anything about it.

Edit: I'm not trying out to slag off PCSOs or any other public sector workers. I'm just in awe of how much they can earn and wish I could be fit ( and young ) enough to qualify. Too late for me now but well done too all current serving PCSOs.

don't see many of my colleagues driving a 40k GTR around But well done for no doubt working hard and nice choice of vehicle, I drove one once and it bent my neck sideways around the corners!
I guess this depends on your preference. My colleagues have big houses in posh neighbourhods(longer commute tho), send kids to private school, annual internstinal family holidays etc while I'm a boring old fart who normally just stays at home. Our typical family holiday would normally mean trip to Chessington or the like... Most of my colleagues also have little interest in cars...I would only dream at the salary I can achieve as a PCSO (and PC) but perhaps I would also work much longer hours and also put my life on the line ....It all depends on how you look at it.

Relevant to the thread or more attempts to derail threads? Please can you stop with posts like this, it adds absolutely nothing and is becoming rather repetitive.
Thanks.

Was it just me that thought that specials were volunteers?
specials are volunteer policemen - they are 'normal' police with full powers.pcsos are paid employees - they are not really police as they do not have the power of arrest and infact their role is NOT the same as a normal police officer.
