Well, that's not good enough, what do I tell my kids, eh?
We've already got Grandma in North Wales. We've not seen her since 2006 because of all the cameras there, and the plod on the bridges.
Now we book a bloody holiday, to a place where Dad can exercise his human right to drive just a little bit faster than everyone else, and you've ruined it!
Tell your dad he wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway. NZ roads are pretty boring....We've already got Grandma in North Wales. We've not seen her since 2006 because of all the cameras there, and the plod on the bridges.

All in a country where an MOT and insurance are not a legal obligation.
Me thinks the priorities might be in the wrong place
The MOT equivalent is every year for cars after 2000, every six months before that - very similar to UK MOT. However some testers attitude to rust is bizarre, surface rust on non load bearing areas sometimes being a fail.Me thinks the priorities might be in the wrong place
Most of the annual "car tax" is in fact covering personal injury - as does a significant portion of fuel tax. Insurance here only covers damage to vehicles and property, and isn't compulsory. I mostly don't bother anymore.
