I've been on a few of these and I don't recall the police instructors "...accepting of motorcyclists only loosely following the law".

I live in a sh*thole sometimes described as Bracknell Forest where they leave the hedges to obscure your line of vision, but if the hedges don't grow quickly enough they put up fences to totally block the line of vision! Then they moan about the air quality, doubtless because we are all sitting at red lights on the Twin Bridges (AKA 8 lights) roundabout that is carefully phased to ensure you struggle to get more than 2 on green at any one time!
Sorry, but to get back to the OP's topic my answer must be "NO"!

Doubt all you want. It is a scientifically proven fact and the main basis for helmet law being repealed in the USA and other countries. The effect is most pronounced when wearing a full face helmet on a motorcycle due to the feeling of isolated safety it generates.Bert

The current upward trend in appalling driving standards is undoubtedly due in part to the insulated nature of a modern car. You are positively surrounded by safety features and overly compliant suspension making the car float silently. Potentially very dangerous to the uninterested or poorly trained, as most drivers are. Classic risk compensation.
Perhaps doing your own research will lead to a better understanding.

Pay particular attention to the figures in Sweden after the change from left hand to right hand driving.
There are numerous studies like this that should be promoted more vigorously to improve driving standards.

never forget a road safety talk at school. About 1981 ish. Copper talking about motorbikes and appropriate clothing. along the lines of:

Police Scotland before they unified used to do a lot of road safety stuff, Bikesafe, young drivers, go into schools to educate secondary students prior to taking up driving, multi agency "hotstrike" events initially after fatal incidents but latterly pre empting accidents where we would go along and engage with the local yoof and there were raffle prizes, all these measures since the unification of all the regional police forces have now ceased!! Police Scotland as one force are not interested in promoting road safety, merely punishing those who transgress! Progress?
