Car paint work
Discussion
The thing is, it's not uncommon - some brands have a real problem with matching plastic panels to metal panels, and Audi and Honda appear to be among the worst - my S2000 bumpers were definitely a different shade...
I'm not a scientist so don't understand the tech reasons (there are some, to do with how the underlying metal/plastic behaves), but part of the issue is that quite often the bumpers are painted at a different place (usually a supplier) using potentially different equipment.
I'm not sure what you do here, to be honest:-
- Live with it;
- Pick a different colour and hope it's better (black usually is, bright colours tend to be among the worst);
- Pick a different car.

Got a better picture yesterday, still nothing back from Honda they have until tomorrow night or I will take it back to the dealer and leave it there. Will have it inspected by a body shop first and then hand them a rejection letter.
It seems that Honda UK aren't getting their finger out and the dealer isn't interested either. The longer you leave it, the more difficult it is to reject.
I think they think you will simply get tired and just disappear.
Have you tried the social media route? Sometimes it helps get arses into gear.

I know we have been over this a multitude of times, but if it were me I would be camping at the dealers until they sorted it. If I could get the time off work (or if it was at a weekend), I'd park my car right at the front with a big sign stating what has happened. I'd also be telling everyone who came near what had happened.

I am on shift until Tuesday night then have my week off so it will be going back Wednesday.It seems that Honda UK aren't getting their finger out and the dealer isn't interested either. The longer you leave it, the more difficult it is to reject.

As I have said before will get an independent inspection carried out myself first have all the rejection letter drafted just need to fill in some dates.
I cant see the rejection being a problem, I have had the car since July and reported the paintwork issue to them after a couple of weeks, it took until last week for all the parts to arrive. This was there one chance to fix the car and they have not been able to, so under the sales of goods act I am well within my rights to reject whilst its still less than six months old.
I truly am gutted, I have always wanted to own a brand new car and saved hard to do so.

As above. It looks terrible. However, they are probably all like that.I'm not a scientist so don't understand the tech reasons (there are some, to do with how the underlying metal/plastic behaves), but part of the issue is that quite often the bumpers are painted at a different place (usually a supplier) using potentially different equipment.

Usually the plastic parts come pre coloured from the suppliers, while the car body is painted on site.
I can understand your disappointment OP but I'd try to look at this positively, there are worse problems to have on a new car..
The first thing that needs to be distinguished is whether they are actually all like this or not, do Honda have another demo car somewhere in this colour you could have a look at? Does anyone on here have one?
If others don't have this issue then I'd say the best option would be to try to reject it and get another, because as you say its a 30k car you've saved hard for that isn't right.
If however the problem exists on all championship white cars then it may be best to work with Honda to get yours resolved, at least then you'll end up with a true championship white car, and can snigger to yourself if you ever see another two tone one!

Not as mental as that Merc 4x4 thread. That's some serious chutzpah from Mercedes there...
Manufacturers DO NOT give a single fraction of a fk about individual customers - that's been proved time and time again from Porsche (engines) right on down to Vauxhall (fires). And doubly not in Europe, where they know the law doesn't have enough teeth to frighten them. Look at the different reactions by VW US and VW Europe to Dieselgate, and they're multi-thousand car class actions.
You've done the right thing by making it their problem, and have a good result by getting them to take it back - someone in the food chain will have to swallow a couple-of-thousand-pound depreciation sting on what is now an "ex-demo" (sic).
All I would say is heed some of the comments above and be canny in your next purchase - this issue isn't unique to Honda (I've seen some Audis look a lot worse), and the next mfr might fight harder against your desire to reject...

Here you go.
TLDR = 4wd RHD cars sound like a bag of spanners and shred their front tyres when you apply a lot of lock, Mercedes claim it's a "characteristic" and won't let owners reject (in contravention of an Ombudsman judgement - shows you what teeth the Ombudsman doesn't have...)

Don't think they were ever going to sort it as they maintained until the end the paintwork was satisfactory!
Different people have different views on quality*. Use of subjective words doesn't help. And then some people are stubborn aholes that don't really understand that a customer spending a LOT of money might actually expect some sort of service alongside the commodity...
Anyway - sad ending but probably the best you could realistically have hoped for. Move on, chalk it up to experience...
