We called the police in case he'd been done in and they took, wait for it, forty five minutes to arrive.

How long did the ambulance take to get there?

Many thanks to all who gave me the support I needed to fight this, special thanks to the serving ossifers involved.

I went to Scunthorpe Mags Court today after much correspondence and phone time. After talking to CPS they decided to offer no evidence, case dismissed!

Licence still spotless.

Good news

Mojo.

I think Sean is right...especially for 79 bloody miles per hour on a motorway and a van/camera at that.

If a patrol car was behind you and it had stopped you and you'd failed some serious test at the roadside, I could understand it, but the circumstances you describe are a bit OTT.

I'm very glad to hear your good news. The crackpots should have left you alone in the first place.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Well done!

Hmmm, still, scary that they tried it on though!

If 79mph really is fine worthy, so is 71mph. If 71mph is SOooooo dangerous it merits a fine, then surely 70mph isn't suddenly amazingly safe...

good to see some sensible justice. It is out there believe me. I travel daily down the M6 preston to crewe. Last week i belatedly spotted a police motorcycle in my rear view mirror whilst doing 90mph ish in the outside lane, it was about 10am so it wasnt rush hour traffic. The motorcycle was about 100 yrds behind me, so i thought rather than slam on down to 70mph ill follow the sensible driving approach and hope i get the benefit of the doubt. the motorcycle followed my everymove for at least 10 miles, i have recently done a company car driving course run by ex policeman, so i slowly reduce my speed to 80 ish and attempted to follow what i had learnt, so i kept my distance from the vehicles in front, optimised the space available to me, indicated my every move, used progressive acceleration to over take sometimes up to 85 mph !! you know the way we should really drive instead of hanging in the outside lane 2 metres from the car in front. i came off at my junction and stopped at the lights, the police followed me and came up to the side of my car, here we go i thought speeding ticket imminent. to my surprise the officer give me the thumbs up saying thats some of the best driving he had seen all week (its bad on the m6 believe me)and to keep it up, i responded by saying i thought i would be done for speeding at 85ish, he replied with you were safe, defensive and considerate have a good day.
thus to say abit of faith in traffic police restored.

If only I had time to stop everyone who drove well...there would be even more faith restored in traffic policing.

I've not lost any respect for the police during the last few months, even the PC in the van that zapped my car had the good manners to ring me after I'd tried to contact him. Seemed a pleasant and helpful guy, shame he's being used in such a way.
It's the comments from the P/H plod which finally tipped me over the edge and into fighting this, many thanks.

If one feels one has been wrongly prosecuted, one should fight it.

However, the flogging of a dead horse should also be considered for cut/dried cases.

North Wales police tried this some time ago. They would stop drivers and praise them for their good driving.

They stopped it because they were pulling people for motoring offences and the drivers were saying "but you stopped me last week and said that I was a good driver"!
