Paul, I was a special for 16 years.
No one ever gave me a hard time for being a Special.
I think you should re evaluate your thoughts.
Ps. If you want to PM me that's fine, I'll explain all of the training they do, the PDP programme they have to do whilst with a fellow officer etc..
Oh, and by the way, I saved more than one persons life.
Thank you Trevor, I appreciate the offer. But no thanks. No one ever gave me a hard time for being a Special.

Actually in Devon & Cornwall you don’t get three chances. If you get reported twice by a Speedwatch group your details are automatically passed to speed enforcement officers. If you then get caught speeding you will get a fixed penalty notice or court summons. So no hobby bobby.
Have you a link for that? Red 4 said:
What if they sent round a regular officer who was fresh out of training school and looked about 12 ?
Would you also have a problem with him/ her ?
The special wouldn't be investigating you for a complex fraud offence or multiple murders.
It's words of advice for excess speed. I'm not sure why you have such a problem with this.
How about if you were being assaulted and a special came to your aid ?
Would you tell them to go away and say that only regular officers were worthy of helping you ?
I'd treat people the way they treated me and I'd put forward my point of view. If I didn't like the way I was spoken to, then I'd show them the door and tell them to leave. I think that's reasonable and I'd apply that to a regular as well as a special.Would you also have a problem with him/ her ?

That isn’t what you said earlier though is it, the discussion started because of your assertion that you would be having a different conversations dependent upon whether you were visited by a Special or a regular martinbiz said:

But only if caught by a police officer.

Someone had a bad day? The fact is Speedwatch groups can make a difference in their community and do. In my village, speeding has dropped by 20%. The group was formed after a Parish consultation and consists of a number of petrolheads, ex policemen and the like, who just happen to think that 30mph is plenty fast enough to drive through a small village with no pavements.
