When we were on holiday in Scotland the other month, we went go-karting...cost plent of £££ for me, the wife and two kids...anyway, it was worth it and we enjoyed it...

However, my kids would have got in for free if they had nicked a couple of cars in the preceeding months..:

Go-karting the way to teach yobs a lesson, says Oaten

Sarah Hall, political correspondent
Thursday September 23, 2004
The Guardian

Teenage joyriders will be given go-karting lessons and courses in car mechanics to prevent them reoffending under plans unveiled by the Liberal Democrats yesterday.
Vandals will also escape having a criminal record if they apologise to their victims and serve a punishment such as cleaning up local graffiti or smashed bus shelters, to be meted out by a "community justice panel".

They would only be given a conditional caution with none of the stigma a criminal record represents.

The measures, to be debated today, form part of the home affairs spokesman Mark Oaten's new "tough liberalism agenda", designed to make the party appear more credible on crime while preventing re-offending and cutting the prison population.

The Lib Dems are all too aware they have been politically damaged by opposing anti-social behaviour disor ders (Asbos) on the grounds of civil liberties, with Labour and the Conservatives being able to wield this in recent byelection campaigns as proof the Lib Dems are "soft on yobs".

The new measures are only likely to exacerbate these calls. Yesterday the prisons minister, Paul Goggins, described the plans as a joke. "It is frightening just how out of touch the Liberal Democrats are on crime," he said.

The shadow home secretary, David Davis, said: "This is proof the Liberal Democrats are soft on crime. Britain has a real problem with youth crime and these proposals will do nothing to solve that problem".

Mr Oaten acknowledged the plans would prove contro-versial when he attacked the media, in advance, for not allowing a sensible debate on the issue.

"But I'm absolutely convinced this party should be arguing for that sort of process. It gives young people a purpose and it helps tackle crime."

The go-karting plan, which is not explicitly outlined in the policy motion, is based on a pilot in Bristol, as is the car mechanics course scheme, which he said could lead to employment. He stressed that carjackers would also be punished by the courts.

"Joy-riders ... need to go through the court process and you need a punishment. But at the same time what is going to stop them doing it again?"

Mr Oaten also denied he was offering a "warm and cuddly" option to offenders of non-violent crimes by allowing them to chose whether to go to court or be punished by a community justice panel.

"Compared to sitting comfortably in court and receiving a fine, going before one of these panels will be a very uncomfortable experience. I want offenders to see the anger and hurt they cause to those living in their communities," he said.

"But this is not just about punishment. It offers the offender something a court appearance cannot: the chance to earn back the respect of the community."

Not long ago there was a Tiny Bliar proposal to give free CDs and label trainers for kids "on the brink" of crime, meaning, involved in mugging, theft, vandalism, asb, and arrested x times: released, cautioned, re-arrested ...(yawn)... but not yet charged and convicted of anything remotely as serious as doing 32 in a 30. Made my kids think it was a waste of time them staying on the straight and narrow, getting a part-time job etc., when the chavs were going to get it all for free. But why not, the older scrotes who the chavs go home to, when they're not inside, get free uPVC windows when their dad had to pay for his. Oh, silly me, criminals aren't scrotes are they, what I meant to say was, these victims of society deserve their handouts that we've paid for by staying honest and working hard to pay taxes.

As a general rule of thumb, if the Liberal democrats think its a good idea it isn't.

My solution to the problem (the liberal democrats that is) is round them up and deport them to Switzerland.

Strange how they want the age of criminal responsibility raised, and "kids" to have special treatment under health and safety regs.

But they want the age of majority, the age at which they can have sex, and the age from which they can be buggered lowered.

Before you know it they won't be responsible for their own actions until they are 21, but will be entitled to vote in kindergarted.

If they can find the time in between stabbing their school chums, raping their teachers, hacking their head to death and burning down the school.

Inflatable schoolboy gets called into the inflatable headmaster's office in the inflatable school for a telling off.

Half way throught the inflatable schoolboy, picks up some scissors, stabs himself in the leg, then the headmaster in the arm and then the floor of the school.

As they are later standing in the playgroung, the headmaster says to the schoolboy;

"You've let yourself down, you've let me down and you've let the school down"

You can effing keep 'em, apart from which the Swiss voted yesterday NOT to loosen immigration so it's doubtful if they'd even get in as "subversives"....

N-n-n-NEIN Danke!

We may have cuckoo clocks and cuckoos running the place .

We may have the world record for having the most prissy and pedantic people on the planet.

We may have daft policies over motor racing there (Nanny Goat knows best )

We may have speed cams dressed up in most peculiar fashion and a 3mph tolerance regardless of what the speed limit is....

But PLEASE! NO!

We do not deserve bigger pretzels than those already there! We have enough trouble with them anyway!

Here's an incentive to stop the little sts reoffending... let them think there is more than a snowball's chance in hell that they'll be properly punished rather than rewarded for there crimes.

Or is this too sensible?

Now you`ve done it!

This is my real pet hate. When I ran the recovery firm I had some sandal wearing, lentil munching, beard sporting , tree hugging, do-gooder pillock phone me up asking if I had any cars to donate to the local youth offenders scheme which involved the taxpayer funding these scrotes to go banger racing.

I invited him to come round with a few of his "kids from a troubled background" so that we could pick a few out. I walked them round the compound which contained about 30 stolen recovered cars, looking for guilty expressions on the kids` faces. To my suprise (maybe not), they were boasting to each other as to who had nicked what.

I was going to do it later anyway, but I totally lost it at this point. I told them to far cough, and that if I ever saw them near another car they would find it difficult to hot wire it with two broken arms.

Lentil muncher was really taken aback and phoned me later to ask what my problem was FFS.

Some people really need to take a look at the real world. These kids should be locked up, not "rewarded" with a bit of free motorsport.

And breathe.
