Could I just thank all the BiB and associated people (CPS etc.) on here.

You may remember that some time ago our house was broken into whilst we were asleep upstairs and the keys to our X5 found and the X5 driven off.

Two weeks later my set of keys was found on a certain person, and four weeks later the car was found by the police.

I've just had a letter from the Police saying that the "keys" person has got 4 months, but even better, the "ring leader" has just got 18 months and a hefty fine for the crime.

To all BiB on here - I know you sometimes get a hard time, but, thank you.

Good news on two counts - the X5 is back and the scumbags are inside.

I still don't think it is severe enough sentencing though.

He Broke into your house specifically for your car keys. That is pre mediatated Burglary/breaking and entry and trespass already..then the theft of a £40,000? vehicle!

I think you should get five years as soon as you enter a strangers property without their knowledge or permission any other crimes you commit after that should be added to the sentence.

Excellent pair of convictions. Longer sentances next time though please.

Unfortunatly they couldn't prove it was them that broke in, merely they were found with the key and the car 2 and 4 weeks later respectivly.

Should make them think abit about doing it again hopefully

agreed!

But at least they didn't just get community service.

although I don't suppose it'll be long before they're out

Too right. 18 months for driving a BMW? Far too lenient. I'd have them all put away for much longer...

Very good news that people are getting put away for this. When my S4 was stolen (same method, burgled for keys), and later turned up, the police did not follow up. It's encouraging to hear that some do.

Did you take the car back?

Nah - we made the insurance company cough up in 4 weeks so it went back to them.

Glad to hear the scum got sent down Joust, it's some consolation I guess but having your house busted into while you are in it is harsh and must have made you very uneasy.

I've half a mind to buy a tazer in case anyone breaks into my gaff. Non-lethal weapon (the cops have them now as well don't they...?). Taze them to the ground then get stuck into them and make sure they never walk again.

Does this mean there's a cheap stolen-recovered X5 up for disposal from an ins. co...?

Seriously though, I'd bring back chaining them to dank, dripping, rat infested dungens for 'em, 3 years at least, on bread and water. Now thats what I call punishment! ........Er,...for the scrotes I mean!.......although?

So have you got the old X5 as well as the one which you got with the insurance money?
