...to avoid her blushes at the airport, the Met helped out with a police diplomatic protection group motorcyclist allegedly using blues and twos along the mainly 40 limit roads with numerous ATS junctions between Downing Street and the terminal, while the airport held the flight so a lawyer flying in a personal capacity can slip on board after the gate has closed.

A Metplod Spokesperson said:
This was an operational decision made for operational reasons

By a civilian operator

A Metropolitan Police Authority member said:
I do not believe for a minute there were sound operational reasons for delivering the passport to Mrs Bliar

A High-Ranking Metpol Officer said:
This was a completely inappropriate use of resources. There is growing anger about this within the Met. It is not our duty to run errands for Number 10

After the Metpol Landrovers carried Our Tone around during the election with doors resprayed "VOTE LABOUR", it seems the Met is now the personal servant of BLiar and his menagerie. What chances they'll be scanning the red light and sped cams asafp, armed with a pair of scissors and a book of excuses, while any black box on the bike will mysteriously go missing - along with the credibility of the police.

And they wonder why we give them no respect..........

Politions and the Police that is.

Just a thought, if Tony Bliar went shopping to bluewater, and his kids wore hoodies, would they let them in?

Wasn't our tonyrec was it?

Yet another example of President Tony's First Lady putting herself above the law.

I saw recently that information about her daily schedule was restricted for security reasons. Funny how the Court publishes the whereabouts of the Royal Family without any such concern. Mind you, there are probably more people who would cheerfully bump off CB (and TB) rather than HMtheQ.

It did cross my mind that TonyRec mya have been the person who had to do this

But she ist a dozy mare - nicht? Fancy forgettin her passport - und she ist supposed to be organised legal person ....

Und ja... I would not feel any kind of sadness for her or her grinning pretend ape luvvy husband - if something untoward happened to them. I am not a great fan of the Royals either - but I admit to be being saddened when one passes away.

I don't have a problem with this - imagine the day to day hassle of being the Prime Minister's wife (or even being the Prime Minister). These little perks go some way towards making up for it.
In the US, the First Lady is an official position, with salary, clothing allowance etc. If we did this then she wouldn't have to (indeed wouldn't be allowed to) work.

I do hope you are not serious.

Perhaps Cherie could get SO16 to pop down to A5da to pick up a few toilet rolls, ask SO13 to collect her laundered and freshly powdered wig from the dry-cleaners, see whether SO17 could spare a female constable to play ping-pong with Leo, and borrow a couple of tall sergeants from SO19 to peg out the washing.

She is a private citizen and was acting in that capacity when she found that she had stupidly left her passport at home. But, typically of Number Ten these days, they think the establishment exists to serve them. Mnisters now routinely stretch their 'perks' well beyond previous administrations (Blunderkit being just one example), these perks do not apply to their wives (on in Blunderkit's case, mistresses).

Perhaps the dog unit to help Cruella source a few dalmatian puppies.

He wouldn't be PM if he didn't want to be. She wouldn't be the PM's wife if she didn't want to be. They both knew exactly what they were doing when he went for the job. They should get no special treatment IMHO.

I think you will find that he thinks he is the president and can do without annoyances such as Parliament and she knows she is the first lady.

She is a private citizen..

She isn't really though, is she? She was travelling with a Protection Officer - sounds good, but I bet a real pain to have someone tagging along all the time. She has the restrictions of being a celebrity, but without the rewards.

"Celebrity" ... don't make me choke! If she stood at the end of the street wearing nothing but red body paint the only attention she would get would be from people trying to post a letter - Streaky

Edited to spice it up a bit .

Didnt she also forget to buy a train ticket the other year, and didnt ol Tony forget to register for his congestion charge in London........... Plonkers both of them.

But absolutely no reason to a) use a plod to speed through town with her passport, (Just supose like Mrs Paul McCartney, he had hit a member of the public and seriously injured them) and b) to hold up other fare paying passenges whilst Cherie (Mrs £250,000 a year) waits for her passport.

Just totally shocking

I think it was 'Well done plod' for getting her out of the country as fast as poss.

Just don't let her back in... she looks more like an illegal immigrant than an illegal immigrant.

On the other hand, I thought that dogs returning to Blighty still had to have a 6 month quarantine period before being reunited with their owners....
