It appears to be on in our area anyhow, supposedly a new 60 minute programme about Cheshire Police.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

BiB catch the crims, courts let them off.

It make me laugh when that copper told the scrote (who apparently was a drugs dealer),he would receive "first class service".

Exactly what traffic police should be doing - and not a mention of the word "speed" in the entire programme!

[pedant_mode]Theakston referred to "Speeding criminals" in his intro...[/pedant_mode]

I do miss the opportunity to do s25 PACE arrests though...

ah fair do's i did turn it on slightly after the start..still, a good example of what the police should be concentrating on. Well done to Cheshire police (and it was good seeing the talivan parked up in the nick as opposed to being out on the scam..)

Wonder if it was business as usual when the TV cameras were turned off?

At least Darren seemed a bit more palatable this time - and he seemed to have throttled back on the chewing.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Only throttled back though, not braked completely (progressively and smoothly) to a safe controlled halt...

Very enjoyable watching. One of the scrotes got a £50 fine for no insurance and a load of points on a licence he didn't have! How does that square with 80mph on a motorway (£60 fine)?
Made me realise i couldn't be a copper, you put the work in and then watch the magistrates and CPS release the scum straight back on to your patch! Must be like ground hog day!

I was a bit shocked at the pillock who was driving whilst disqualified - for 10 years!!!

What do you have to do to get a disqualification for that length of time!? (Not that I shall be attempting it.)

At least he got banged up for it. The fines and points on licences that don't exist seem a complete farce.

Bring back the birch for those that consistently flout the law in this way. Driving whilst disqualified is a crime that is easily proven, easily understood and with no room for debate/misunderstanding. We should show no leniancy here.

When I was at school(many moons ago) there was a lad in my class who had points on his licence - at 16! He didn't care, just carried on whenever he felt like it. He thought it was amusing that he didn't have a licence, but still got points...

Further to this, why ban people from driving when the have no licence to do so? If they have no licence and they are driving, then a ban will do nothing to stop them. I consider the crimes committed to be fairly serious (no insurance, licence, unroadworthy vehicles etc etc) and they got fined £50 and banned form something they aren't allowed to do anyway??! WTF?

Meanwhile, the rest of the population gets £60 + points + increased insurance etc for the hideous crime of driving at 5mph over the limit

I think, and I'm sure BiB will correct me if wrong, it is because driving without a licence is not arrestable, whereas driving while disqualified is.

Then the law is well out of date and needs to be changed. If we are accused of driving over the limit and being told we are in charge of a dangerous weapon in doing so due to the increased risk of death as speed increases, surely things need to be changed to stop those with no morals getting behind the wheel of a dangerous weapon in the first place?!?!

Ist defnitely out of date...Germany/Switzerland will arrest over this - und penalty ist same as driving whilst disqualified as far as I remember. Und these who drive without any lessons und licence are much more dangerous than those who have been disqualified as they at least had lessons und passed a test once. They never did.

Und as for the penalties....I read of one case in tabloid paper about a month or so ago. Chap had been stopped 29 times for driving whilst disqualified - und he was drunk again for the 29th time. The magistrates just let him off with 100 hours commununity service because "he was in receipt of a care allowance benefit regarding his Mama,,," Und I am sure his Mamaa will thank him for having accident through being dunk at the wheel of his car as he ist accident waiting to happen I shall not go to that part of UK - ist too dangerous

But - he had no Gatsoed points....according to the tabloids anyway (Ist Gatso hotspot )

Well guys, how about we cancel our insurance and steal tax discs

That way UK plc will feed and clothe us at its own expense, and we can pay them 50 credits next time we get caught (at 1 credit a week) :hitsheadagainsthugewall:

Don't blame the Magistrates, lobby for a change in the law!

Driving not in accordance with the licence (incuding never having a licence) is only punishable with a fine and points! There is no choice available to the bench.

Driving whilst disqualified however can carry six months.

Even with the new penalties available soon there will be no extra help as it will only stiffen up community penalties.
