I'm after some advice please.

I had a FPN come through the post and I identified myself as the driver and then Lincolnshire Police sent through the offer of a Speeding Ticket, Driver Awareness course or Court. Obviously I would like to go for a Speed Awareness Course so I phone the number to book it and the chap on the phone states that the offer has been withdrawn.

Why would Lincolnshire police withdraw their offer? The offer of a course was dated the 18th of June and I have 28 days to respond so in my world that takes us to the 16th of July so that can't be the issue.

Typically the phone line to the Traffic department is closed so I have to leave them a Voicemail or Email them and I suspect they will take ages to respond.

Any advice would be fantastic

Thanks.

I would persevere with the traffic department. They may have withdrawn the whole lot for all you know !

If they do I think I'll go and buy a lottery ticket!

What was the speed/limit/location? Is it just a generic form where all three options are presented even if they are not actually appropriate for the offence?

I was caught doing 58 through a 50 by an average speed camera on the A1 through some road works.

The form gave me 3 options to choose from either the course, a ticket or going to court.

It also provided me with all of the information needed to book the course such as refernce number etc.

The fact you say you were offered a course or court points to something being wrong, maybe the course offer was an error. What is the alleged speed and limit involved?

It was a 50mph temporary limit on the A1 and I was caught averaging 58 accordingly to the letter.

That is just over the prosecution threshold, so as suitable for a course as it gets.

Have you had another course recently?

Thanks for the response everyone. My last driving awareness course was at least 7 years ago so it can't be that.

I just wish I could phone them and simply discuss the issue with them!

I had one in those roadworks (A1 at Grantham?) last June. I was doing 57 and got an SAC. The threshold for getting done is >56.
So I see no reason on what you have said as to why you shouldn't have been offered an SAC. My previous one was in 2013, so 7 years previously.

I'm slightly annoyed that I've been caught for being 2 MPH over the Threshold so 1 MPH must be infuriating!

I can only assume its an admin error their side or perhaps an issue with the ticket itself as I haven't had any previous courses recently, I'm trying to respond within the 28 day notice period (Letter dated the 18th of June 2021) and I am within the Threshold required.

One thing which I wonder could be causing issues is that the date of offence is 17/02/2021 but the NIP went to the leasing company and then the head office of where I work who obviously nominated me and then finally I got sent it probably at the start of June.

It's not immediately obvious from your post, but how long did you leave it to respond to the initial offer?

Hmm, I recently saw the rozzers out with radar guns in a 20 mph speed limit - on a big, urban dual carriageway. Heaven knows what speed they were nicking at for that one.

If you got all that, can you book one online: https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/lincolnshire-road-...

I got caught there and so did two people know - must have near paid for the roadworks the amount those cameras have made

Is this possibly the issue? Could it time-out if you take the maximum time to accept the course, and the maximum time to take the course (ie. past the 6 month limit?) Maybe they have realised and withdrawn on that basis?

That may be it. If they offer you the course and you don’t do it it could take you past the six month limit.

I’d send them an email and explain the situation. See if they can get you on a course in the near future.

Just to provide an update Lincolnshire phoned me back after a couple of hours of leaving a voicemail and apparently it was an admin error their side.
I've booked the course for 8.30 Sunday morning just to get it over and done with.
