Truvelos rear facing?
Discussion
On the A6 north of Matlock there are a matching pair of Truvelo cameras opposite each other on the "wrong" side of the road. Ie they're on the right as you approach them from the front.
So, are they taking photos of people approaching before they slow (assuming they're paying some attention) for the camera thinking it's a gatso? Or have they been approved for rear facing pics?
Which made me think about this:
The fact that SPECS is being gradually allowed to spread with little or no public information about it, save for those of us with Net access and memberships of sites such as PH is unacceptable.
I've long thought that the powers that be are trying to make the motoring population paranoid about speed, in the (eroneous) belief that this will make the roads safer.

The Truvelos have updated software, and can work normally (towards the driver) or in Gatso mode taking a single picture from the lines in the road.
I asked Rachel Moon (Kent Scamera Media) in person at a car show.

The usual 3 white stripes will be present as normal, but I think Gatso markings are optional. I don't know why they also paint the Gatso style markings (Truvelos use single photo evidence), but be thankful if they do - it gives you more warning

yeah that would be the one, as I had just come from GandM, and on the way home managed to take the wrong bloody turning at the sainsbury roundabout and was on that road for about 10 mins till i could turn around....
TO be fair they are wellsigned, and the 60 limit isnt bad, but I could see these boys catching a few people unawares...

1) Truvelos use TWO (pairs of) pizeo-electric strips across the carriageway - so four lines. See: www.truvelouk.com/speedmeasurement.phtml
2) These are positioned ahead of the camera, so are wrongly located for rear-facing use. The Truvelo (UK) site shows white lines for rear-facing use, see: www.truvelouk.com/rearphotography.phtml
It's the DS2 type of mobile scamera that has three 'lines' (generally rubber strips) on the road, and the TSS type that has three buried strips.
