the new firework Laws, it's worse than ever now, my poor cats have not been outside at night for 6 months, that's cruel and the reason is because it's been like Beirut here for so long, I thought the new Laws were supposed to make things better instead they are far far worse

I think if its a choice between fireworks or pets I would vote fireworks. In fact I can't believe that anyone has posted suggesting that new fireworks laws are inneffective. Phoney Tony and the political slime create and represent the law, therefore no-one has any respect left for it. Nanny State is failing, thank goodness.

On the stroke of midnight all hell broke lose around our way and both the cats shot off the bed and hid. I thought I'd ease their suffering by putting the tv on to hopefully mask some of the noise from outside but unfortunately I ended up watching the firework display over the Thames! Not sure it helped really

This was just another law made in response to a 'knee jerk' reaction. Whatever happened to well thought out, sensible legislation.

Now, if somebody could invent a camera to 'tax' fireworks ...........

For us, the firework bangs started at 8pm and went
on until 1am.

It's like living in Beirut. Lots of folks like using lots
of fireworks for hours and hours it seems.

Over the firework season, the pet dog wouldn't go out of the house
from mid-October to late November. Plenty of ruined carpets.
Lovely.

We also had a lot of fireworks on Christmas Eve.

Pet dog very scared last night. It dumped a load on the
carpet overnite.

I think there's a market for silent or reduced noise fireworks.

Plenty of colour no problem, but having *all* the pets for a mile
or so around a firework party upset [ to say nothing of small
children kept awake ] time after time after time isn't nice.

I can sympathise 110% mate - we keep dogs and a cat ourselves and have ended up with puddles over the floor etc too many times to count.

But can anyone claim the fireworks law was actually going to work!! How many spare BiB are there likely to be around on Xmas/New Year's Eve - don't forget that most will be tied up stopping 'lager-louts' beating each other senseless/assaulting hospital staff/transport workers etc and this at a time when they (BiB) want to be off-duty enjoying themselves with their families too.

This law, like so many others, was no more than a sop to the press and public to shut them up.

Well it wasn't too bad round here. A bit of noise in the distance from about 10pm then quite a lot of noise from midnight but nowhere near as bad as previous years (it used to start in October and finish mid January) although I slept through most of it while my wife sat with the dogs.
I miss the times when we could go outside at midnight and listen to the boats sounding their horns on the Thames, we live about 4 miles away but that is now drowned out by all the ordnance going off.

It wasn't too bad here for a change, half an hour starting from midnight. I really felt for any pet owners around the Thames area last night though - that was a nitrous injected display they had there! Awesome display.

The childish prats were at it until 2.00am around my area. My wife is trying to get me to move out of town so she can keep ducks and chickens. That day is getting closer!

I did not let any fireworks off this year but the comments here have made certain I will let some off next year. Pet owners should get a life, or better still get together with the speed camera fans and go live somewhere else. A little commune where everything is banned except cat piss, dog shit pushbikes and sandals.

Good idea, just make sure you save one to stick up your own arse.

No, I shall buy an extra one, coat it in dog shit and aim it at your house.

I have the perfect solution. My cat is deaf and is happy to sit and watch the fireworks with me at midnight :-) I love a free display.
