Hi I am new

have just discovered this Forum while looking for Law ones

the thing I was going to ask about is that this evening as the Wife (who picks me up from work) drove over a speed bump, (20MPH limit outside a School)I felt my back crunch, since then it has been getting increasingly painfull to the point that I am now lying face down on our Bed using the laptop, actually I am now in agony
my point is is there a legal height limit for speed bumps? as the one we went over on the way home from work must be at least 8 to 10 Inches High! (old school) and I just do not see why when driving at the particular posted speed limit I should suffer a Health problem, ie Back
I shall go to A&E in the Morning to see if I can get this sorted however is there anything I should know before hand?

cheers chaps

Well firstly of course, the speed limit does not infere that it is safe to travel at that speed. The driver has to travel at a safe speed up to that maximum, they don't have to try to travel at it at all times. If there is a hazard in the road (one there will have been sign posted warnings about) then the driver should drive at a speed to negotiate that hazard safely.

As regard size guidelines

interesting as they say the Maximum height for a speed hump is 100mm but I can assure you that said humps are at least 200/300mm high, put it this way, they come above the kerb and Pavement level level by at least 3"

Illegal and by the sounds of it the idiots have left themselves wide open. What ever speed you were doing no longer matters as the hump is too big for any speed.

We once read in Bolton press that Bolton humps were too high und many were being either removed or replaced with ones half their height as they were above the 100 mm mark. Paper was imperial - they said "three INCHES - und the average hump in the town was "SIX INCHES" at the time that stroy went to press. (April 2005)

Go out and take some photos of the bumps and the heights to confirm/ensure they are well above the safe limits.

Then get yourself checked out by Docs.
