Just wondering, i have seen ANPRs working at night but do revenue collecting vans and unmarked plod cars still work at night? (seem to remember something about unmarked cars not used at night long time ago)

I got pulled for speeding(and was given a fixed penalty)at about 930pm on an April night last year by an unmarked silver Range Rover with tow bar on the M61

Scamera vans certainly do if they are using image intensifying cameras. The local press have stated that they need streetlights to operate but I have not seen that confirmed.

No.

The police go home before sunset, and go to bed with a Horlicks.

What do you think?

remember a while back there were some car jackers impersonating plod, blue lights in the grill of a mundano, and getting people out of expensive cars and hopping in themselves, i thought plod addressed the issue by not using unmarked after dark, i guess i was wrong.

I also heard that no unmarked plod card after dark.

Mind you, it's just as hard to see a marked car in the rear view when its dark.

Yea, also no tripod laser in the rain, but who speeds in the rain?
The laser is aimed at your reflective front number plate.
If you hav'nt got one, then it's up to the police behind the laser to realise this and quickly turn around in his cam-van, or motorway bridge, and write your rear number down on a piece of paper.
Could be a bit clumbersome.
