A spokesman for the Safer Roads Partnership said:
"What happens is we collect speed data from local authorities and all of that data is put in quite an advanced mapping tool to see precisely where the money spots are on the roads."

"A spokesman for the Safer Roads Partnership said: 'What happens is we collect accident data from local authorities and all of that data is put in quite an advanced mapping tool to see precisely where the danger spots are on the roads.'"

"Road Safety Minster David Jamieson (speaking about the National Camera Partnership Liaison) said, 'We expect local camera partnerships to be upfront and transparent in their efforts to curb speeds and save lives.'"

So, SHOW US THE FIGURES!

And I make no apologies for shouting - Streaky

They showed us the figures for the 2 Reading hotspots - and frankly one of them looked very dodgey.

Something like 130 'serious' accidents in 3 years on Kings Road. What utter drivel!

Isn't it supposed to be based on KSIs?

Yep - that's the KSI stats

I can only assume that 2 busses crashed!

A trawl through the local newspaper (maybe online - Internet or at the newspaper's office) might reveal the report of the accidents.

Nope - when this story came out the local rag said "what serious accidents?". AFAIK they didn't have records of any!!!

Can't remember the time frame but
The criteria needed to be able to site a new camera are 4KSI’s or 8 slight injury accidents.

Most cameras sites are now being loaded.

Our district council receive £25,000 a year from the cameras which runs their Speed Indication Device.

Show us where the money goes!

Sorry - did I hijack that ?

I live locally to the road, I think I have seen one accident, and guess what, it was not in the place the talivan is parked.

You can get the raw accident data from the police, but guess what? You have to pay £££ for that too!

The entire UK accident data records can also be downloaded from www.data-archive.ac.uk but you need to justify the use and pay a small fee.

"Slight injury" - eg. cut finger picking up broken headlamp glass.

ASAMOF, my daughter suffered a "slight injury" (which required an ambulance and police attendance) ... but the vehicle speed at the time was around 10mph (she was T-boned by a neighbour reversing out of his drive! Seven more like that and there'll be a scamera outside this quiet residential road

There are 5 police cars on the A40 (Friday am) in High Wycombe about a mile before Tesco. Why do they need so many cars??
