Green laser/camera thingy
Discussion
There was a thread on this in General Gassing last week Frankly though, I can't be arsed to look.
They are effectively the same as TrafficMaster, with one worrying difference. They are run by the Government.
With a relatively small expense on software and hardware they could be converted to a nationwide SPECS system. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Software upgrades are ALWAYS expensive. Especially on crap government procured systems.

It's linked to a local mini pc, logs number & texts it & the time to somehwere not sure where though.
Traffic master use them, records speeds over ditance if there is more than one. Which obviously there are.
Think these might be linked to VOSA

Hmmmmm ... 'Anything that could violate road safety is on our target databases.' Like what exactly? And how exactly does the system tackled unregistered cars or cars that have been sold on without informing the DVLA or cloned cars?
Answer - it doesn't, but I suppose its easier to monitor and prosecute those who play by the rules but may simply forget their MOT date.

This is what were talking about green cameras. This one is mounted over my favourite private 1/4 mile alongside a Blue TrafficMaster.
Under the green cover is the usual PIPS Technology camera as used by Trafficmaster & SPECS units. Interestingly the Trafficmaster is clearly marked as such, whereas the green ones have nothing on the outer boxes. Just the PIPS label on the camera part itself.
The cameras are connected by cable to these green boxes with the cellphone aerial poking out the top.
These people www.haldo.com make & supply the green boxes, obviously very busy by the amount of groundworks, boxes & access routes needed, all over the country. Obviously busy enough to be in a few nice car clubs, check out the links page! Maybe a PH'er???
I have serious concerns that this may well be VOSA/Government with intentions to use them for SPECS duties at the flick of some new software.

They'd need Home Office type approval before they could do that or the evidence from the system would not be admissible in law.
