Just noticed an item in last week's local paper to the effect that Surrey CC have voted to establish a scamera partnership. Surrey Police Authority to decide later this month whether to go ahead.

As it stands Surrey is apparently one of only three police forces (oops services!) not to be participating in a scamera job creation and motorist taxation scheme.

It is to be hoped that the Chief Constable persists in what, on past evidence, is an enlightened approach and boots the idea into touch. What's the betting that the politically correct jobsworths on the Police Authority will overrule him.

>>> Edited by meldrewlives on Thursday 20th May 08:46 to say that anybody interested might like to note the content of the following item from the agenda for today's Police Authority Meeting:-

www.surreypa.gov.uk/docs/May04/21.%20The%20road%20safety%20toolbox.doc

Apart from the interesting statistics elsewhere in the document there is a recommendation to "produce a business case" on page 10.

Oh yes - and 9 out of the 17 members of the authority are Surrey County Councillors - looks like a done deal then. Makes me want to vomit.
