79mph on the M180.

NIP came today.

3 lanes, almost empty.

I saw the van on the opposite side and thought, obviously wrongly, that I'd eased off enough.

I've driven past police cars at that speed!

S'pose I'll just smile and pay up.

Just before it happened,a BMW went past me at around 100mph, saw the van and stood on his brakes. He then went on his merry way at 100mph again......

Cheers Streetcop. I've lived through worse before.

It's just ferking irritating when I'm the car who holds up the school-run mums and coffin-dodgers in 30 and 40mph zones!
Inappropriate speed and all that.......

I might be wrong about who was driving. I'm sure it was somewhere along the M180 that I felt ill and we had to swap drivers........

Hi Bobbins.
The highwayman was on the opposite carriageway and got me out the back of his van after I'd gone past.
I must have been too busy watching the road ahead. Foolish thing to do.

Many thanks to all who gave me the support I needed to fight this, special thanks to the serving ossifers involved.

I went to Scunthorpe Mags Court today after much correspondence and phone time. After talking to CPS they decided to offer no evidence, case dismissed!

Licence still spotless.

Basically I stuck to my story from start to finish.
Due to my illness I swap driving with my wife, this is almost an everyday occurrence. I simply could not remember where we had swapped drivers on that particular journey. If you've driven the M180 you'll understand!
I think that the court appearance was simply to check if I was trying it on.

Hope you charged them costs

Part of the quiet chat with the CPS was that I agree to not claiming costs.

Hey, I got a day out in Scunthorpe! What more could a man want?

I've not lost any respect for the police during the last few months, even the PC in the van that zapped my car had the good manners to ring me after I'd tried to contact him. Seemed a pleasant and helpful guy, shame he's being used in such a way.
It's the comments from the P/H plod which finally tipped me over the edge and into fighting this, many thanks.
