is accelerating quick an offence

if you accelerate quickly up to the speed limit, which is 30 mph in my case, is it against the law.
I did and a police officer followed me on his bicycle and screamed pull over, and shouted in an ignorant manner to get out of my car immediately. I did not and stayed put as i had my 8 year old daughter with me, he gave me a warning is this correct?

Anyway i apologized for upsetting him, and he said i like that. ok don't do it again, and that was it.

I had a worse one 10 years ago when i had a TVR, this police officer followed me from the station after i produced documents he pulled me over and said the following this is perfectly true.

pr-ck, i was shocked by this and dumb struck he just walked off. I was doing 25 to 28 in a 30.

Came across the police officer last night (which prompted this thread), gave me a wave and smile, perhaps i misjudged him.
