Kids tried to mug me.
Discussion
Just walking down Tottenham court road earlier, kids on pushbikes tried to knock me over and steal my phone.
On this occasion no one was hurt and they got away before I grab one of them.
Had I been able to catch one, what guidance is there on restraining a minor who has attacked me? (ie is it reasonable to pin him down as you might do with an adult while waiting for the police? Would it be reasonable to pull one of them off a bike?)
Just curious on peoples opinions should it ever happen again. (and if I'm fast enough)

That gang have been mugging people in that area for at least a month, I work round the corner and have seen them grab bags twice now, over the course of 4-5 weeks.
Worth knowing, thanks! (I'm based in the area too)Interesting MO, and they are taking huge risks with the traffic... Wonder how long before one gets flattened.
Thanks for the replies

The same law as to reasonable force applies as would apply to an adult.

Spoke to a copper this morning and asked them to add it to whatever intelligence profile they are building. Looks like its not being reported enough as yet, until more come forward they cant mount an operation. (always an issue with ad-hoc but semi-regular events in my experience)
